The problem with Donald Trump is not just that he’s a loon but that he surrounds himself with the worst people. It was bad enough having him in office for four years but the Trojan horse of characters that he brought in with him are in both chambers of congress and would conceivably be elevated to even higher positions. What you’re about to see is comical, on the one hand, but it is more frightening than anything else. MAGA is a political cancer.
Anyone with any shred of sanity escaped Trump's circle long ago. All that's left are crooks, deviants, cynics, and weirdos…and they'll make up his second term cabinet. pic.twitter.com/deGDtl9D7r

Is that not the stuff of nightmares? And not one part of it is impossible. Idiocracy come to life. America sold to the highest bidder. And this will entertain you: the rumor of J.D. Vance being replaced by Bobby Kennedy, Jr. is gaining some steam on social media.
Has the VP switch announcement been made yet? pic.twitter.com/feJYvMavxz

Where there’s smoke there’s fire. Right-wing media is down on Vance so you may see a lot of this. This is guaranteed to get under Trump’s skin. Plus, Vance was the choice of Trump’s idiot sons and Tucker Carlson, so those relationships are going to show some strain as this fifth column manuever to topple Vance keeps going. Here’s a passage from Project 2025, which you must see.
“The modern conservative President’s task is to limit, control, and direct the executive branch….The great challenge confronting a conservative President is the existential need for aggressive use of the vast powers of the executive branch.… Success in meeting that challenge will require a rare combination of boldness and self-denial: boldness to bend or break the bureaucracy to the presidential will”. (p. 43-44)
The next conservative Administration must make every effort to obtain the resources to support a vast expansion of the number of appointees in every office and component across the department—especially in the Civil Rights Division, the FBI, and the EOIR.” (p. 569)
“[This] would also place the FBI under a politically accountable leader.” (p. 549)
Hit this link to read more. Trump denies Project 2025 but like everything else that comes out of his mouth it’s not true. This is the blueprint for where he will take America.

“…limit, control,…aggressive use of the vast powers…support a vast expansion…”
All these in the same paragraph.
Sure, I want to LIMIT my VAST POWER for a vast EXPANSION… Huh? Do these guys even read what they write?
Success in meeting that challenge will require a rare combination of boldness and self-denial: boldness to bend or break the bureaucracy to the presidential will”. (p. 43-44)
Exactly what you said!
The stuff of nightmares is the fact that while certain “experts” think all that is needed is chaos on election day so trump can steal the election, it will take little of that (although I’m sure there will be quite a bit just because cray-cray gonna cray). Chaos can be fought. I’d be surprised if the current administration doesn’t have something in mind to deal with this as it surely is inevitable. More worrisome is the fact that red states won’t need chaos-their fix is in. 2020 was a practice election and they now know what they’ll need to steal 2024. They will attempt, and possibly, maybe even probably, succeed, because they will have their people in place to throw out ballots cast for anyone other than trump. They have “monitors” in place to deny people entry into voting booths or when they cannot do that, toss the ballots into the “provisional” box to later be throw into the round file. They have everything they need to make sure that trump not only wins, but does so with probably over 90% of the vote (they like what they see in authoritarian countries). And some swing states like GA are going to do their version of this shit.
I do not know how to prevent what IS going to happen on election day and the days following it. I don’t know what impact mail-in voting will have but I”m thinking not too much since there are people in place to toss ballots for any pretext that are cast for Harris/Walz. Elections in red states are no longer secure. They are not trust-worthy and democrat votes will largely not be counted. Since some of the swing states are in ‘pube/magat hands, we’ve just seen that moron in GA go over to trump, we may be fucked no matter how much and well we GOTV.
The only path to protect our voting privilege that I can see, and others might see another way, is to fight them at their level-violence with violence. It is a bad way to go I’ll admit and once we go down this path we likely won’t have a nation left but in all honesty if they steal the election we won’t have a nation left anyway so it makes little, if any, difference.
All this hope and happiness is, while very entertaining and uplifting, not really worth all that much when you think about the people in place willing to, indeed excited to, commit treason. I’m surprised more is not being made of this although why I would be given dems/progressives marvelous ability to bury their heads in the sand I’ve no idea.
In school we were taught about three separate, co-equal branches of government. (Who the hell knows what they teach in some places these days?) That wasn’t as I would learn quite what the founders were shooting for. Divided government yes. They were immensely distrustful of all the power being in the hands of one person or branch of govt. SCOTUS was almost an afterthought but they knew there needed to be an independent branch to settle certain disputes and while Marbury v Madison raised a lot of eyebrows it didn’t kick up so much fuss that an amendment was proposed, much less voted on by Congress and submitted to the states for ratification came about. If not abused (as we now regularly see) it was accepted fairly early in our history as a good thing – a check on both the Executive and Legislative Branches.
The founders also knew that an Executive Branch would be needed to administer things. Yet they were terrified of the prospect of a President with king like powers, and also (not that preservation of slavery wasn’t a huge factor) the masses one day being inflamed and duped by a rabble rouser and assuming even the limited role envisioned for the President – hence the creation of the Electoral College. It was supposed to be composed of electors who gained that status for being of unquestioned character and good judgement who if necessary could step in if the voters went batshit insane. A Donald Trump type is EXACTLY what they had in mind. If the voters were so lacking in judgement as to vote for someone like that the Electors were meant to step in and set things right. NOT ratify stupidity!
It was envisioned that in the divided government Congress would wield the most power. Even though they gave the President the power of the veto Congress was given the means to override a veto! That’s why this whole Unitary Executive theory conservatives have espoused and tried to create (but ONLY if a Republican is in the WH) is a load of bullshit. It couldn’t be different from what the founders intended. Now, with Trump they want to go beyond even their Unitary Executive Theory!
It’s scary as hell because with SCOTUS and so much of the federal judiciary so thoroughly corrupted they are so close to their goal of turning us and our form of government into THEIR vision they can taste it. Sure, they’d prefer someone other than Trump. They’d prefer someone who actually knows shit and how to get it done but they know he’s not capabple of it. And THAT is why and how Project 2025 came about. A solid plan to turn this country into Trumpistan, at least until he dies and they can install the kind of dictator they really want. Trump? They know full well that just as with the judges and Justices he’ll give them anything they want – all he cares about are the perks of the job. Using it to grift and fatten his bank account and attend ceremonial functions and play the big shot. (Oh, and now, most importantly stay out of prison!) The true power in the conservative movement is willing to suffer some more of Trump because he’s not going to last all that many years.
We are in dangerous times because they were so sure they had thing in the bag the whole Project 2026 was published and actually already being set in motion. Now it’s no longer a sure thing and even those who run news outlets (and the “talent”) have started to realize Fox, or even Newsmax only have so many slots for either management or “talent.” If we prevail this fall if I was one of those who cleared printing up and distributing Project 2025 (and hiring some staff to get it geared up and operational during the transition) I’d be making contingency plans to sneak off somewhere and assume a lavish but secluded life far, far away from the U.S. And hope Erik Prince wasn’t tasked (for a hefty fee of course) to track them down and cause them to have an “accident”. And their loved ones too.
From Shooter: AG: I don’t like the way turned out any more than you do…but this isn’t the old west where you can clean up the town with a gun…although sometimes that’s exactly what is needed. Later in the movie that’s exactly what the sargent did. Sure it’s a movie. If the Lincoln Project’s nightmare comes true…please tell me what alternative will patriots in this country have? Vote so we don’t have to face an unimaginable future.
