That’s a lovely title to see. It may have started with the Sandwich Guy, but it’s growing, and it isn’t stopping. Grand juries and judges are tired of Trump, his DoJ, and the specious cases they are trying to bring. It seems the DoJ has gotten worse under Acting AG Todd Blanche. It just keeps going, and going, and going. My compliments to Raw Story:
The Justice Department is facing an unprecedented crisis of confidence in its handling of grand jury proceedings, with federal judges striking down cases and citing prosecutorial misconduct at levels legal experts say were virtually unthinkable just years ago. In a striking rebuke this week, Chicago federal Judge April M. Perry dismissed charges against four Democratic activists, citing a litany of grand jury violations that shocked the bench, reported the New York Times
Good gods. Prosecutorial misconduct. Now, doesn’t that give you warm, fuzzy feelings of confidence? ….. me either. The DoJ is running downhill, and it all started with Bondi. They’re not walking. They are running and sliding. This is supposed to be the legal standard for the country. It’s frustrating to see it decay and morph into something that is a shadow of itself. How many people did they lose when Trump came into power?
“I have never seen the types of prosecutorial behavior before a grand jury that I saw in those transcripts,” Perry wrote, describing herself as “incredibly shocked” by the misconduct. Prosecutors had improperly coached grand jurors outside the jury room, stacked the panel by removing jurors who voted against them, and then attempted to conceal their actions by redacting grand jury transcripts.
This is stunning. What is this world coming to? Apparently, the DoJ is bleeding out talent and experience. They resigned, or they were fired for stupid reasons. Working on the two Trump cases of Jack Smith, even if they were only doing some peripheral research. If there was the slightest of something against Trump, they were gone. But it seems the rot is deeper than petty revenge, mostly. James Comey and AG Letitia Smith come to mind.
Misconduct. That’s a big word. The judge had to ask for unredacted grand jury transcripts. She caught the prosecutors. Tainting grand jury proceedings in any way is a bad idea. Lindsey Hallligan found that out. A lawyer in Minneapolis knew it and was trying to get out. What a joke.
Barbara L. McQuade, the former U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, noted that in her two decades with the department, she had never encountered or even heard of a case where judges examined grand jury transcripts due to prosecutorial misconduct concerns. The pattern suggests that prosecutorial pressure to secure convictions against perceived political opponents has compromised the integrity of proceedings that form the foundation of the criminal justice system.
WHAM. There we go. Compromised the integrity. That’s big. No wonder we no longer trust the DoJ. It’s just an extension of Trump now. It’s going to take a long time to bring it back to what it was. We still have more than 2 years to get through. How much worse will it be by the end of Trump’s reign?
See you soon!
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

How long is it going to take to repair the damage Trump and the Greedy Old Perverts have inflicted on the proper fair functions of government?
10 years?
15?
I think the proper word is “indefinite”…..
Yea, I have to agree with you. Indefinite. Damn, yes.
I have no idea. At least 10 for physical things like the Kennedy Center, assuming he hasn’t ripped everything out and completely effed it up. I don’t even know if the next president is going to do anything about this stuff. But the impact on us is going to take decades. Things like the DoJ? Or the FBI? That may take decades, too.
