No matter how much we hate Kristi Gnome and her ICE hellions, this is something that shouldn’t happen. The people left behind will always wonder WHY. Why today, why the shooter didn’t think beyond killing someone, why it was here and now, and why was someone so angry they took it out on nameless people, who will mourn because it’s so easy to get a gun. Responsible ownership is one thing, but the killing of random people is a completely different situation altogether. From Reuters:
MCKINNEY, Texas, Sept 24 – A gunman who wrote “ANTI-ICE” on an unused bullet killed one detainee and wounded two others on Wednesday when he fired on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement field office in Dallas from a nearby rooftop before taking his own life, officials said. FBI Director Kash Patel posted a photo on X of what he said was the suspect’s unused ammunition that showed one with the words “ANTI-ICE” written along the side. “While the investigation is ongoing, an initial review of the evidence shows an ideological motive behind this attack,” Patel wrote.

There ya go. Are you impressed yet? (Kidding!) But seriously, why use that word when you could have easily said it in a much simpler way? Say, it appears he hated ICE. Once you get more details, you can release the information you find that’s fine for the public. He didn’t kill anyone with ICE.
In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security said the suspect fired “indiscriminately” at the ICE building, including at a van in the building’s secured entryway where the victims were shot. The department initially said two victims were dead and one was injured, before later issuing a corrected statement that one detainee had been killed and two others were in critical condition. Officials have not disclosed the identities of the victims.
Gunning down people is wrong. And he killed and wounded detainees, not ICE. The shooter didn’t even get any of the ICE staff. He killed and wounded innocent people. How do you explain that to their families? “Hi. A shooter was out for us and hit your family member <insert ID of who was killed and/or injured> instead. We’re sorry for your loss,” or “is in this hospital right now if you want to see them”. At least one family is going to drown in questions and grief. If either one of the others dies, it’s the same story, different family. That must have been a grudge the size of America to do that. And he took his own life. That means no information as to why. ICE is hated across the US, but they didn’t deserve this.
Kristi and Kash are going to stand in front of the press and say, this and that and misdirect the public’s attention somewhere else. If you’re in Trump’s cabinet, of *course* you can’t admit you have nothing. So they’ll babble on and never say they have that. Nothing. Why the hell can’t you stand up and say, “We have very limited information at this time. We’ll send out updates as we have them.” See? Simple and straightforward. But if you’re a sycophant, you can *never* say anything like that. Words, words, words. To close:

This should give everyone something to think about. Oh, yes, conflict. A bunch of conflict. Political violence. If you saw masked hoodlums coming into your neighborhood and dragging people off, would you try to kick them out? LA did it. Why couldn’t we?

It was done by one of YOUR people*, hoping to help give #DrowsyDonnie, the Wannabe-King, his excuse to declare martial law. I’m not positing any sort of “conspiracy theory”–this is just the way the right-wing nutjobs have operated for the past 30+ years. I mean, these are the same type of morons who go around suggesting the perpetrators (perpetraitors?) of January 6th were actually Democrats and other anti-Trump plants yet either *somehow* only the “true” Drumpf believers managed to get prosecuted or Drumpf pardoned a whole lot of Democrats (and they manage to somehow overlook the fact that many of those who were pardoned have managed to get into OTHER kinds of trouble with the law since their pardons and a reasonable handful of the “true believers” who’ve either refused or indicated an intent to refuse the pardons have admitted they WERE “true believers” and were “proud Drumpf voters” before the insurrection).
My theory makes far more sense than this being a real form of anti-ICE “protest” move.

With all those guns out there, and the inflammatory rhetoric supporting them, the only surprising thing is that we don’t see more actions like this, rather than less.

It doesn’t surprise me you’d leap to misinterpret what Susan wrote. IF Patel is to be believed (who’s to say when that unfired round with the inscription on it didn’t have one of Patel’s people scratch that into the brass) the shooter was so deranged and/or incompetent that IF his target was ICE agents he didn’t hit a single one. However I can assure you she’d be just as horrified if the murderous asshole did in fact injure or kill ICE personnel.
I find it curious ONLY immigrants were shot. Was the asshole so batshit insane he was willing to just shoot indiscriminately and kill people he supposedly was in the worst possible way advocating for hoping to also get an ICE agent or two? Possible. Who the hell knows what runs through the mind of a mass shooter? More than we ever learn in the aftermath I’m sure.
Yes, the people injured and killed were NOT the people we are being told the shooter was after. The were in fact INNOCENT victims. No one from ICE was harmed. But the point, which you chose to ignore is that NO ONE at that ICE facility should have been shot at. Not even ICE agents who so often go out of their way to be cruel to others. The fucking HEADLINE of the article states that quite clearly.
“Officials have not yet disclosed the identities of the victims” . Not to make light of a tragic situation, what are the chances they don’t even know their names, given the chaotic approach of ICE?
If Krazy-eyes Kash is lucky, a family member of the shooter will come forward and help with the investigation. Because gawd knows his FBI isn’t up to the task.
