[I’m sorry I’m so late posting.]
Bibi has pissed off a lot of nations around the world, more than Trump has. Genocide is a harsh word. Killing all those civilians was excessive, among other descriptions. Israel and Palestine have been at it since just about the beginning of the human species, but that doesn’t mean civilians. The whole situation is a mess.
Remember, Netanyahu has courts waiting for him whenever he’s not at war, so it seems he wants this to continue indefinitely so he can stay out of court and probably jail. That’s a pretty powerful impetus to do so. There is the Israeli court, and the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for him last year over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity tied to the siege of Gaza, a warrant he rejects.
There is no willingness to get into a discussion without enough information, and that would take a long time to learn. Therefore, with the exception of speaking about Netanyahu, the subject of Israel and Palestine is closed. Full stop. Not happening.
Now, back to Bibi. Something unusual happened with him at the UN. Something that happened as he was getting ready to speak. My respect to Raw Story:
Diplomats from dozens of countries walked out of the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approached the podium, emptying rows of the chamber in protest before he could say a word. Cheers and chants in support of Palestine broke out Thursday afternoon as dozens of diplomats stormed out. The protest led to a gaveling and a call for “order in the hall!” Netanyahu answered the exodus from the stage with a firm retort. “If there are any other moral cowards who have not left this hall, please do so now,” he said to a visibly thinned-out room.
That’s extremely arrogant. He is no one to talk about morals when he’s had hundreds of civilians killed. War is one thing. Apparent massacres are something else. We’ve seen the pictures. We know what is going on in Lebanon because it is part of the war with Iran, since they help arm the Hezbollah terrorist group, which means it’s hard to complain, for lack of a better word at the moment, about them being bombed.
Moral cowards. Did he think up that word before coming onstage? He had to know there would be protests. And he should have expected nations to leave in protest. It’s a clear way to state an opinion without making it ugly. Would we have walked out? Almost definitely. Perhaps one person could stay to hear what he has to say and give everyone notes later on. It’s stomach-churning just to think about. No interest in listening here.
Yes, this was another one-trick pony, but we need to pay attention. The Iranian diplomat leaving before Trump’s speech was one thing, and certainly understandable. This was major. Rows were emptied. Rows. The US diplomat leaving because of the Iranian delegation showing pictures of the children who were killed was unnecessary, because they *died*, and we know it. Trump didn’t listen to Tulsi Gabbard and forced her out, but she had advised him about old intelligence.
What’s going on at the UN is important. We need to keep up with it, because it’s very telling on the world stage. And it might backfire on America. We’re having enough problems. We don’t need to add to it.
