The No Kings demonstrations were absolutely amazing, even though I should have known they would be. There’s a lot more to this that is being missed about what they said, and the absolute *lack* of enthusiasm for tRump’s Perade [sic]. I almost wish I had watched the Mango Messiah’s flop. That was not nearly as impressive as I thought it would be. Instead, the protests showed that most of the country has not lost its minds after all. By Robert Reich via Alternet:
Yesterday’s demonstrations across the nation in favor of democracy and against Trump’s dictatorship revealed the power of the people. While Trump continues to politicize the military, hundreds of thousands of us are saying no to his usurpation of power that belongs to the people.
We will not be intimidated by the violence he has stirred up — not by the shootings of state legislators and their spouses in Minnesota, nor by the death threats against federal judges, nor by the thuggish removal of a United States senator from a Trump official’s news conference, nor by the arrest of a judge who didn’t cooperate with ICE, nor by the abductions of people from our streets and places of work.
We didn’t, and we won’t. The people of the United States have risen up and told him we can’t be beaten down. We *won’t* be beaten down. I don’t think there was any way he could have missed our power to stand against him, because there is no telling what news programs he would look at that carried the news of OUR protests.
And how many more people would have attended if circumstances didn’t dictate otherwise? We need to take them into account, too. So, there would have been many more to join, too. The people have spoken. The people know what he is trying to do!
We will be steadfast and strong, as we were in yesterday’s protests.
Trump’s parade was almost rained out. His regime is itself a dark storm cloud over America.
The moral squalor of Trump has brought us back to basics: Why we have a Constitution. The meaning of the rule of law. The importance of checks and balances and the separation of powers. The centrality of our judiciary. The significance of due process and habeas corpus. The connection between near-record inequalities of income and wealth, and the record levels of money corrupting our politics.
Perhaps most fundamentally of all, the malignant narcissism of Trump has helped us understand the opposite — the true meaning of patriotism and the common good.
Oh, yes, it has. The protests showed that. Compared to his military ridiculousness, we have more. We *showed* we have more. We will BE more. The people have told El Presidente Imbécil *enough*!!! This is what democracy looks like. Thanks for sticking with me!

Zoomers, if you can help the Little Political Blog That Could keep trekking through cyberspace, we would appreciate it. My medical issues are still ongoing. I need to have a minor operation to remove a skin tumor. The hits just keep on coming, like a ’50s radio station. Thank you for all you do. Ursula

It doesn’t matter if MSM didn’t cover the protests anyway.
More people turned up, than wanted to watch.
In the millions.
Agreed all round and especially looooved the soldierly marches just strolling along, a silent one-fingered salute if ever there was one. That said, we are barely 5 months in. While we are all waiting for the cavalry to come over the hill in 19 months, nothing is for certain so long as this administration has its hands on the tiller. We NEED the courts to stand firm with the SC to be rock steady, despite the 2 pebbles in their midst. But, most of all, we need Congress Republicans to bestir themselves. The prayer is that the relative crowd sizes and energies of Saturday will rattle members since one event was paid for and failed and the others were from the grassroots, free and in all of their constituencies. While the foregoing is, roughly, hold the line until the mid-terms, we ned do more by getting (on the) offensive. ONWARDS
Glad you enjoyed the silly protests, not sure what was accomplished. I enjoyed catching some highlights of the beautiful military parade and celebration of U.S.A. military might!
The ICE operations will now continue with renewed vigor, I hope the left is done rioting!
Of course, what is not to enjoy about schadenfreude?
As for ICE continuing, I’m all for it IF they start within habeas corpus and the original premise that big time and violent criminals be targeted rather than low hanging fruit. Hell, and I may cross the line here, I can see the original target may not be pushovers so I MIGHT even allow ICE to have, unlike the current disproportionate and illegal mess, (properly) coordinated support.
Does that create any problems for you?
Nope. Glad to hear it
