If there were ever two stranger political bedfellows than Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani, they have not come up on my radar. Trump finally got indicted for his incitement of the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol. We know that there are six co-conspirators who have yet to be named. New York Times:
In a statement, Mr. Giuliani’s lawyer acknowledged that it “appears that Mayor Giuliani is alleged to be co-conspirator No. 1.” The lawyer, Robert J. Costello, denounced the indictment, saying that it amounted to “election interference” and “eviscerates the First Amendment.”
The final report by the House select committee investigating Jan. 6 detailed the struggle between Mr. Giuliani, who was pushing Mr. Trump to promote allegations of fraud, and other lawyers for the campaign who backed away from them.
The indictment describes co-conspirator 2 as a lawyer who came up and sought to implement a plan to “leverage” Vice President Mike Pence’s “ceremonial role overseeing the certification proceeding” that was taking place inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, to “obstruct the certification of the presidential election.”
That tracks closely with Mr. Eastman’s advice to Mr. Trump that he could pressure Mr. Pence into either disrupting or delaying the certification process. A lawyer for Mr. Eastman did not respond to a request for comment.
John Eastman’s star has not only set, it’s in the process of turning into a black hole which is going to suck him in. He’s already in a disbarment trial in California and I don’t think that a federal indictment for conspiracy to overthrow the government is going to help him hang onto his law license, do you?
Co-conspirator 3 is described as another lawyer whose “unfounded claims of election fraud” sounded “crazy” to Mr. Trump, the indictment said.
Ms. Powell was best known during the chaotic postelection period for filing four lawsuits in key swing states claiming that a cabal of bad actors — including Chinese software companies, Venezuelan officials and the liberal financier George Soros conspired to hack into voting machines produced by Dominion Voting Systems and flip votes from Mr. Trump to Mr. Biden. A lawyer for Ms. Powell did not respond to a request for comment.
The indictment says that co-conspirator 4 was a Justice Department official who worked on civil matters and plotted with Mr. Trump to use the department to “open sham election crime investigations” and “influence state legislatures with knowingly false claims of election fraud.”
A Justice Department official…hmmm…you don’t need to be Nostradamus to figure out they’re talking about Jeffrey Clark. Clark not only agreed to support Trump’s claims of election fraud, he also wrote to Brian Kemp, urging him to call the state legislature into special session and create a slate of “false pro-Trump electors.”
The indictment describes co-conspirator 5 as a lawyer who helped to craft and try to implement “a plan to submit fraudulent slates of presidential electors to obstruct the certification proceeding.” That description could fit a handful of lawyers who advised Mr. Trump.
Finally, co-conspirator 6 is described as a “political consultant” who helped to devise and implement the fake elector scheme. It could apply to several people who worked closely with Mr. Trump after the election.
These are Kenneth Chesebro and James Troupis, lawyers who helped flesh out the plan to use fake electors pledged to Trump in states that Biden won.
That’s the cast, at least as predicted by the Times. Let’s see what happens in the days and weeks ahead. Yes, it is a lonnnng hot summer, on a whole lot of levels.

I had been thinking of who fit the roles since reading about the 6 co-conspirators ….and came to the same conclusions as the NYT writer….I too cannot place the fourth lawyer, while Rudy the Worm, Eastman and Powell were easy to place.
The Justice Dept official was easy as well….Clark.
But I disagree on their suspect for the political consultant……there, I have two possibilities……Roger Stone or Michael Flynn, who both in previously released information were lobbying Trump-O to act on annulling the election.
Per the indictment, Trump-O spoke to acting ATTY General Rosen about DOJ claiming the election illegitimate, to which Rosen responded DOJ will not support that, Trump-O quipped, “Just say that the election was corrupt and leave the rest to me and the Republican congressmen”
There are many more co-conspirators and traitors out there…….in plain view…..sitting in the US Congress…..waiting to be indicted.
The two lawyers who actually cobbled together the false electors and the phone certificates are the most likely suspects. Although yes, Flynn, and Stone and Bannon were all there in the hotel suite dreaming it up as well.
Also, even if not members of the Seditionist Six referenced in the indictment, it doesn’t mean Stone and Bannon are off the hook.
I think it will be awfully hard for Rudy to NOT shake. I keep saying, that’s nasty, worn (brain) transmission fluid leaking so badly it’s running down his cheeks. IOW what’s left of his brain can’t function properly anymore. Hasn’t been able to for quite a while now.
I don’t think anyone has mentioned the meeting at the hotel down the road (I don’t remember the name) with Rudy, Roger Stone, Bannon, Flynn (I think) and John Eastman on the night of Jan 5. I think Mark Meadows was supposed to be there but somehow couldn’t make it. Convenient.
Please correct me if I’m wrong as my memory is not working at full speed right now.
In a list of people, starting with those six, where would Ginni Thomas’ name appear?
To see just how far our nation has fallen we can listen to one of these attorneys defending these butt-wipes denouncing the indictment, saying that it amounted to “election interference” and “eviscerates the First Amendment.” I get that everyone deserves a defense attorney but having attorneys parrot this, let’s call it what it is-treason, is just beyond pale. Defend these criminals with a vigorous criminal defense. Don’t spew vile, treasonous, nonsense-it makes attorneys look and sound like the idiots they are defending and gives our nation a very large black eye. This shit is embarrassing.
If January 6 doesn’t convince congress to amend the constitution to eliminate the Electoral College, nothing will. Without the EC, the January 6 insurrection would never have happened.
You know if just once, a Republican won the popular vote but lost the EC, that sh*t would have been gone as their first act.
I know some states are trying by pledging to award their electors to whomever wins the popular vote, but that’s not enough. It’s past time this legacy homage to the southern slave states is abolished.
Otherwise, it can happen again and someone smarter than Trump (ie any multi-celled organism) may succeed.
