Turn out the lights, the party’s over   Country Song

It was so heartening to hear President Biden call out Trump directly for the Big Lie, exposing it in great detail for what it was. It was even better since, as a national policy speech, FUX News had to carry it live. But it’s just a start.

When it comes to The Big Lie, there are two ways to deal with it effectively. The first is sunlight, after all, that is the best disinfectant for a lie, bright exposure to the truth. That is exactly what Biden did in his speech. And the Democrats will continue to hammer that theme home in their 1/06 hearings starting next week. But that’s only one component.

The other way is to make it personally, professionally, and financially  untenable for people in positions of power to continue to spread The Big Lie with complete impunity. And things are rapidly heating up on that front as we speak.

I recently wrote about a Michigan federal district court judge that dragged a whole passel of Trump aligned lawyers, all now represented by lawyers themselves in an attempt to emerge unscathed, to discuss the lawsuit they had brought before her court. Suffice it to say that it didn’t go well for the Trump lawyers. The judge is now considering a whole range of possible sanctions, up to and including referrals to state bar associations for possible suspensions or disbarment for the lawyers. But it turns out that this may well be just the start.

Wisconsin Democratic Governor Terry Evers requested a federal district court judge in Wisconsin to take another look at the frivolous lawsuit filed by GOP lawyers in his state, and requesting sanctions against the participating lawyers. The judge has apparently accepted the recommendation. Look for more GOP lawyers to get called  before a judge for a trip to the woodshed soon.

And the hits just keep on coming for all purpose scumbag Lin Wood. Following his flogging from the Michigan judge, it is reported that the Georgia state bar association is actively investigating Wood for ethics violations of the state bar code. As far as I can tell, this was not at the request of the judge in Michigan, this was an action that the Georgia state bar undertook on its own.

Now for the piece de la resistance. Rachel Maddow reported tonight that the House Oversight Committee sent a letter to the founder of the Cyber Ninja’s , requesting a shit load of documents regarding their qualifications and standards for the sham Fraudit that they are are conducting in Maricopa County in Arizona. The committee gave them until July 29th to comply  before taking additional steps to obtain the information requested.

THIS is how you dismantle the Big Lie! The House Oversight Committee has just made it clear that they are more than ready to put the Cyber Ninja’s through an extended, full bore, legislative colonoscopy in public. Cyber Ninja’s founder and CEO Doug Logan is a far right wingnut QAnon idiot. His entire Fraudit was meant for internal GOP wingnut consumption, and not a full sunlight congressional investigation. This is going to be glorious.

Look, you aren’t going to change the minds of the Trump true  believers, and this isn’t about that. But 2022 is looming in the windshield. The more that The Big Lie is exposed and debunked publicly, the more independents and soft Republicans you can peel off, especially if Biden and the Democrats are able to pull off these infrastructure bills. Mobilize. Organize. Vote.

  1. Georgia wanted Wood to get a mental-health evaluation or be sanctioned, and he refused. Whatever happens, he brought it on himself.

  2. Just a note, Murf, but that “country song” is “The Party’s Over” by the outlaw legend himself, Willie Nelson. He wrote it and had a country hit with it in 1967 (peaking at #24) but it was first recorded by country singer Claude Gray as “My Party’s Over” (the song’s original title) but it failed to chart. (The song was one of four Nelson songs that Gray would record; the others were “Family Bible,” “Night Life” and “Leave Alone” but Gray would only have a hit with “Family Bible.” Ray Price would have a modest country hit with a version of “Night Life.”)

Of course, millions of people are most familiar with the legendary partial performances of the song on ABC’s “Monday Night Football” program by former Cowboys quarterback, Don Meredith who served as an analyst on the show. Whenever a key play was made that pretty much ended the chances of the other team’s winning, Meredith would croon “Turn out the lights, the party’s over.”

    • And don’t forget: The Party’s Over From the Broadway Musical “Bells Are Ringing” (1956)
Jule Styne, Betty Comden, and Adolph Green. (Music and movie junkie here.)

    • I’m curious, what lying do you have factual evidence of from the Congressional House Oversight Committee ?

Or are you just an ordinary troll with the GOP ?

    • ? what lying?

We’ve had 6 months of some of the most lie-free atmosphere we’ve had for literally years coming out of the current White House. It has been a breath of fresh air.

  3. We need to stop calling it the Big Lie and turn it the question inward. We need to call these people what they are “Sore F!@king Losers.” Sure its name calling but these GQPer’s live on lies and CTs. Everyone of them are still stuck in the denial and anger phase and they are not moving on anytime soon.
