Either Markwayne Mullin is egregiously ignorant of how basic things work in government, or he believes that the listener is and he can sell this bucket of hogwash. Mullin plans to incarcerate state elections officials and he has zero jurisdiction over them. The states are responsible for elections, according to the Constitution, not the federal government. So how Mullin is planning to stick by this threat is beyond everybody.

I can’t wait to see Mullin attempt to pull this one off. What does he have planned for November, ICE agents at polling booths? Or worse?

Any kid who has passed sixth grade civics knows more about how our elections work than Markwayne Mullin. That is a tragic thing to have to say but there you have it. What other conclusion can be reached?

  1. “Egregious” is a great and apt word. As elections are clearly a state right/duty, is there scope for litigation to head Mullin and his threats off at the pass? With a view to protecting the integrity of the process and the well-being of the people administering it? Get judicial shut up and hands off rulings asap and in numbers/authority.
