Miss Jewish Space Lasers, QAnon queen Marjorie Taylor Greene, visited the Holocaust Museum today and she gave a press conference afterwards to say that she was wrong about comparing simple COVID mask mandates to the worst atrocity in human history since the Spanish Inquisition.

She began her presser, by curiously stating that “I’m a normal person.” Not sure how that translates, but maybe somebody managed to get to her and tell her how monstrous — or montrously stupid, in all events — she sounded making a comparison between the horrors of Nazi Germany and a health recommendation by the WHO and CDC.

Here’s Marjorie Taylor Greene, trying to clean up her act. Watch carefully, you may not see it again.

The best that I can parse together is that Marjorie Taylor Greene knew absolutely nothing about WWII, but she had gotten an image somewhere of Jews wearing yellow stars and to her that conflated with mask wearing.

Another possibility is that she received blow back from donors and that caused her to have a Come to Jesus moment and examine her track record of opening her mouth and inserting her foot. I’m not even going to suggest that Kevin McCarthy had anything to do with this. He’s as far in over his head as Greene is, in many ways, worse possibly because he’s actually been around for a while.

But, on the other hand, progress is progress and at least she did the right thing, if not at the right time and maybe not for the right reason.

The other thing to bear in mind is that QAnon is highly anti-Semitic and that might bear on this in some way. She may possibly be trying to distance herself from QAnon, or she may be trying to distance herself from the anti-Semitic portion of QAnon, while hanging onto the Big Lie portion of the group.

It’s difficult to speculate, but personally? I think that Mitch McConnell might have had something to do with this. I think McConnell saw this conflagration for what it was, a talking point that could burn a hole in the 2022 midterms and I think he may have spoken to Greene, either personally, or through an intermediary. Say what you will about McConnell, he understands that the name of the game is staying in the game, and he has singled out Greene before, when he spoke of “loony conspiracy theory.” McConnell doesn’t want this in his tent.

Pure conjecture, not a thing to base it upon, but clearly something brought Greene to her senses. Relatively speaking, anyway.

Now let’s see if Matt Gaetz has a similar Come to Jesus moment. That would truly be fascinating.

  1. It’s possible she really didn’t know – it tends to not get a lot of coverage in even college history classes, unless you’re going for a history degree (mostly for modern history).

    • I’m sure that she was totally ignorant, I never doubted that for a nano second. But she shot off her mouth, sounding like she knew something, and then she doubled down on it. First rule: don’t say something outlandish or incendiary, unless you can back it up.

      • I agree, Ursula. Being of a certain age, my parents lived through WWII. I was born after. But they all knew. I have relatives of their generation who liberated camps. She needs to get educated. Thanks for the story.

    • This must be a modern thing. I knew about it clear back in junior high. In those days, the diary of Anne Frank was required reading.

  2. It’s about big money into PACS – hers in particular. She got told in clear terms even a three year old could understand that she’d better clean this mess up (and right effing NOW!) or she would be toast. A lot of big money conservatives are happy to support her with most of her bullshit slinging, but this is the kind of thing that could blow back on them. Yes, it’s dark money but increasingly they are worried it can be traced. There’s also the worries that just to stir up shit in the U.S. Putin might turn loose his hackers on them, or feed out information they (the hackers and Putin) already have. Putin is “Leland Gaunt” in Stephen King’s novel Needful Things and he’s spent a lot of time and effort setting things up to not only play people off against each other but ignite full blown chaos.

  3. She deserves zero credit given her attack on truth & support of insurrection. She can go take a flying phuck at a rolling doughnut.

  4. This woman sure is a stupid little spoiled brat. Now she needs to visit the prison farms in Texas or Mississippi. Most have no A.C. and it is beyond hot down here. We don ‘t gas people in ovens we just cook them. Is there anyway this woman could grow an heart?

  5. ‘Here’s Marjorie Taylor Greene, trying to clean up her act.’

Nope. There’s not enough bleach in the world for that.

  6. So, at age 47, Margarine Tater Grains learned what the rest of us learned in Junior High, or earlier.
Doesn’t speak well of the state of public schools in Georgia.

  7. Anyone who thinks she can be ‘educated’ needs to go to ur kitchen, pour a full glass of water. Then try to put some fresh water into it. Can’t add a damn thing until she empties out the dirty stuff. No chance. How many insincere ‘apologies’ do u have to hear to know the real deal?
