On May 22, 1856, Representative Preston Brooks of South Carolina entered the Senate Chamber and repeatedly struck Senator Charles Sumner of Massachusetts over the head with a cane. That occurred after Sumner had called Stephen Douglas, to his face, a “noise-some, squat, and nameless animal . . . not a proper model for an American senator.” This was considered pretty wild stuff back in the day and is characterized as the day when the “world’s greatest deliberative body became a combat zone.” Still and all, it’s somewhat courtly and quaint compared to the cat fight that Marjorie Taylor Greene fomented on the Capitol steps Friday.
Never one to leave a bad enough thing lie, Greene had to get on Twitter today and wade even further out into the gutter. This is beyond belief. This kind of behavior would not fly in any office or factory or any work place in America. The fact that somebody is able to do it in Congress is beyond the pale.

The chief of staff is “former” because he suddenly resigned Friday after the fracas on the Capitol steps. Maybe he had a sudden spasm of conscience? Or, maybe he foresaw a future where this kind of low life behavior is not so well thought of and figured he might want to be able to work at that time and place? In any event, the timing of his resignation was certainly curious.
It’s hard to believe that Marjorie Taylor Greene is anything but a freak show, a carnival act passing through town.
Washington, D.C. is like Hollywood insofar as they’re both small towns. You never know who’s going to show up where in a few years. Making enemies and burning bridges is not a good idea or that reason. The former chief of staff seems to have figured that out, maybe the big shot congresswoman should get a clue as well.
I am beyond fed up with this tyranny being foisted upon us. I can only hope and pray the voters get rid of these people with resounding defeats.
I hope Greene gets expelled for her continuing bad behavior.
Here’s the thing about that-if she were expelled from congress mightn’t she get re-elected? I don’t know the rules quite frankly but I figure such a move might p*ss off the people who elected her to such an extent they would put her back in office. Again, I don’t know what congressional rules are that govern this kind of thing.
You just know that if anyone behaved towards Greene the way she behaves towards everyone else, she’d be on some friendly “news” service whining about how mean people are being to her and how she doesn’t deserve it.
If is said what I think that M Traitor Greene and her ilk really deserve, I would probably get kicked off here! At the very least they deserve to be removed from any position of public service, their assets seized, and to all be exiled to Clipperton Island permanently!

Republicans have held the presidency at times from Lincoln to Trump. 156 years is TOO LONG for a party to stay in Washington!!
We have had Reps who are as unqualified and dangerous as MTG before…we can get through it, but it will take work and success is not guaranteed.

It’s a very conservative district, but she her primary opponent withdrew and she ran unopposed. A lot of people in her district find her embarrassing, but I’m not sure a Democrat could beat her, and the GOP, being what it is, will not primary her. A good independent or third-party conservative candidate who understands the needs of the district could surely beat her.
