It is exactly four months until Election Day 2024 and we are faced, once again, with a situation we’ve never seen before. “Unprecedented” is the bitter pill that we take daily, along with our morning coffee, as we prepare to trudge through terra incognita for yet another day, wondering what will change before we close our eyes that night. Never before in our 248-year history have a handful of top tier newspapers and magazines published editorials on how the incumbent president should relinquish his candidacy for reelection four months before an election for the crime of blowing one debate. But that is the norm in 2024 because Joe Biden has committed the greater, more unspeakable crime, of staying in public service into his eighties and being our oldest incumbent president. So do we thank the man for his steadfast service and lifelong devotion? Hell no. We kick him in the teeth.

This action is made even the more bizarre by the fact that the other presumptive nominee of his party is a convicted felon who staged an insurrection at the Capitol the day that the votes were being certified and his own vice president wasn’t picking up the cue to go along with the gag and refuse to do his constitutional duty. But back to Biden, if  other candidates that we can readily name had stepped down after one bad debate — Bill Clinton and Barack Obama leap to mind — the course of American history would have been substantially altered. Plus, when does “winning” a debate have all that much weight in creating the positive outcome which the debates are designed to lead to? Hillary Clinton won all three debates, hands down, and you know the rest.

But that is the overriding *news* story nowadays, what will Biden do? What should Biden do? If Joe Biden is the patriot we believe him to be, that his entire career has shown him to be, will he step aside? Hell, no. He’s not going to step aside. Nor should he. Why should he be bullied by the pundit class into giving up the helm of the ship of state when he has been so ably manning that helm for over three years? What kind of lunacy is that?

A number of things are going on now. Let’s parse through them together and see where they intersect. One issue, and this is the big one, is that age is an overriding issue in this election because you have two candidates that are up in years. The problem here, and it is a doozy, is that there are issues commonly attributed to age (with respect to both candidates) which are not in fact age-related at all. Donald Trump lies like a rug. Always has. He’s also given to flights of fancy about boat batteries, sharks, transgender athletes and what have you, because he believes these to be amusing to his base. And possibly he’s right. That they tend to demean the stature of the office of president, for which he is running, either doesn’t occur to him, or that’s the point.

Joe Biden is gaffe prone. Always has been. Probably that quirk of his hasn’t gotten any better with old age but it is emphatically not the result of aging. At least, not in his case. So we do have a spectacle of two old men up there at the podium, jabbing at one another about who can play golf better, but the resemblance ends there. They are as different as night and day. Who they have been in the world, why they are there running for president, are two completely different stories.

Now to the point of the demands that Biden just throw in the towel: a pundit class is asking for this. Not Biden’s fellow Democrats. Not Kamala Harris (so far as we know.) Not Jill Biden or anybody in the President’s closest circle. This is a group of journos and newspaper people, primarily, and in this day and age those entities are ruled by the billionaire class. Bear that in mind, because therein lies a truth: there is a national narrative that is, to some extent, cued by the corporate mentality that is in fact paying the bills.

It’s the stuff of Citizen Kane, folks. The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution have all published editorials demanding that Joe Biden step down, strictly on the basis of that one admittedly awful televised debate. It’s been quite convenient to ignore the man’s track record, with infrastructure, technology, Big Pharma, jobs creation, a blasting stock market, all the indicators of a happy and healthy — and successful — presidential administration, due to one bad night of improvisational theater onstage with one of the biggest liars in the world. And this makes sense to a lot of people.

This is what you’re going to see more of. Here is the bottom line: Biden has done a good enough job as president and Donald Trump not only did a disgraceful job when he was in the same post, but he has further disgraced himself in the three years he’s been gone, to where there would be no sane contest between the two — but for the intervention of mainstream media and its corporate narrative.

This is the contest you’re really seeing. Yes, the Democratic nominee v. the Republican nominee is the big contest. That’s the game for all the marbles. But an equally large contest, intertwined and running concurrent with, is the MSM v. Biden. And one game influences the other in a manner which is strictly frightening. That’s why I mention Citizen Kane. This election is straight out of the script for that movie. We are seeing how the recorders of fact have become a major player in the story. And this is not a new development.

The MSM has a vested interest in making this a nail biter and keeping you panicked and on the edge of your seats. They have to convince you that somehow, the convicted felon is making enormous gains across the country due to one bad night of improvisational theater. Think I am joking. I am not joking. Steve Schmidt’s column today is entitled No Way Out. No, he’s not MSM but he’s very definitive in what he has to say and basically that is that it’s time for us to bend over and kiss our collective Democratic ass goodbye.

Donald Trump is winning decisively. In fact, he has never held a stronger hand — ever. [Note: the industry of scientific polling has never been more messed up, but somehow facts and figures exist to prove this claim, we assume.]

So Joe Biden is toast, and Donald Trump is on a glide path to regain the White House. And why is this? One bad night of improvisational theater. That’s what we are asked to believe. Or, alternatively, the polling mechanisms are still unreliable, Biden still has a hell of a track record on the books, and the race is still quite winnable because nobody wants to return a convicted felon and adjudicated rapist to the highest office in our land.

And maybe we are as stupid as Donald Trump. It has been said about Trump that he makes decisions “based on the last person he spoke to.” So he’s easily swayable, is what we are told. Great. Maybe the way we should handle this, then, is to inundate the electorate with nothing but images of Biden’s wins, wins, wins, in the last three days before balloting starts. Maybe the victory of the moment, whatever it may be, will swing the election.

Because if America is this stupid and one bad debate has made Donald Trump look like the best bet for this country, then we are irretrievably toast. And I mean irretrievably. We were that stupid back in 2016. If we’ve learned nothing in the years since, then maybe we are too stupid, collectively, to remain citizens of a constitutional democracy. Maybe this game is over.

I don’t think so. I think that the MSM is gaslighting us for purposes of its own. And I’m hoping and praying that other people see through the subterfuge and will have enough survival instinct not to vote for the convicted felon. Joe Biden is not going to step aside and he shouldn’t. To do so would be sheer chaos. The election would become a madhouse. If the man had suffered a heart attack or stroke, on those facts, we might want to have this conversation. But not one bad night of show biz and Trump takes home the prize by default. C’mon man, as Biden would say.

  1. I agree Ursula. One bad debate does not make it a lost cause. Biden may be old but he knows what the hell he is doing, the same cannot be said for TFG. I will be voting for Biden/Harris ticket and here in Minnesota I will vote Democrat up and down the ballot. VOTE BLUE!! 💙💙💙💙

  2. What’s really “funny” is how many verbal/written gaffes has Trump made over the years and the mainstream media has just glossed over them as if it was no big deal? And he came up with some real gaffes years ago (“covfefe” anyone?) not to mention a pretty serious one just a couple of weeks ago (when he claimed to have passed that cognitive test administered by Doctor Ronny JOHNSON–rather than the “Dr” Ronny JACKSON) and the mainstream media looked at them for a few hours and moved along. Nope, folks. Nothing to see here.
And, let’s not forget that Trump misidentified E Jean Carroll as one of his wives, even though he publicly claimed she wasn’t his “type.” (I don’t recall if Trump’s gaffe was actually in court or if it was done in pretrial actions but it still didn’t lead the mainstream media to lose their collective doo-doo over Trump’s mental state.)

  3. It’s not the MSM, Main Stream Media.

It’s the BOM, the Billionaire Owned Media, pretending they still represent mainstream interests.

The only interests they have are their own selfish ones of getting more money to get more power to get more money to get more power to get more money to get…ad infinitum.

    1% versus 99%…shouldn’t be a contest.
