Thank God for a good old belly laugh. Not for the first time, nor for the last, the Divine Miss M gives us exactly that. The Supreme Court of the United States has seen better days and so has American politics. Yesterday was a low watermark for both. The battle lines for November have been drawn. It’s not going to get any easier. If we want our descendents to live in the same country that we grew up in, we need to assure that that will happen. It’s no longer a given, as it once was. We have long left the arena of one political party v. another. We are now in the realm of our way of life v. an unthinkable and unAmerican one. Here is our Pied Piper rallying the troops.

Both the Divine Miss M and the Lincoln Project have provided us with classics. Of that there is no doubt. And one of the main reasons that this is so comical is because SCOTUS provides reams of material. If they were simply doing the bare minimum and being ethical, as most people understand that term (let alone judges, let alone our top justices) there would be nothing to satirize here.

We have no lack of material. It’s all there. We stand at a cultural crossroads, a turning point like no other. We either continue as a constitutional republic, as a democracy, or we degenerate into a kakistocracy, led by a man who has already been decreed the worst United States president in our history. He won’t get any better in a second term. But history could be memory holed on his watch and you may depend on the fact that it will be. That will be the primary job of Project 2025.
