We’re all a long way from processing all that went on during the 2024 campaign. One thing that stood out at times was something, or rather someone who we saw very little of. Melania Trump. You know the wisecracks as well as I do about what kind of ‘appearance fees’ she demanded, and negotiations on how much physical contact from her stinky, grabby husband she’d allow. We also recall she was rather different that the other First Ladies any living American can remember. Different in a not good way. Well, if what’s being reported to Melania as FLOTUS 2.0 will be somewhat less visible than before. Let’s hope those reports are true.
According to some, including this article from The Independent Melania will be spending a lot less time in the WH than before. Instead she appears to be planning to stay in NYC at the Trump residence in Trump Tower where Barron has chosen to live during his college years. Barron as you know started college earlier this fall. Four years of college is the same as a term a President is supposed to serve. That might be all the excuse Melania needs to avoid spending more than an absolute minimum of time near Trump. Sure, the WH is a big place but just being in the same building with him probably gives her the creeps. And frankly pisses her off given how only just some of his philandering (on HER!) was national news.
It seems Melania just HAS to be sure she’s “there for Barron” so according to the linked article she’ll be spending her time at that Trump Tower condo, and time in Palm Beach too. Anyone want to bet those trips to Florida will mostly be when her hubby is somewhere else? I’m pretty sure that just as with the campaign, if Trump wants Melania at his side for some event he’s going to have to cough up a hefty appearance fee! Melania never wanted the spotlight First Ladies deal with in the first place. She sure as hell doesn’t want another go-round and seems to be letting folks know she wants to stay away from it as much as possible:
While the sources reportedly said that Melania’s preference is “not to be publicly involved,” she was also cited as “a constant voice in her husband’s ear, giving him advice.”
The returning first lady has made it clear that “this time is different” as she prepares to carve out her role as FLOTUS with four years of experience under her belt.
Kate Bennett, former CNN White House correspondent and author of Free, Melania: The Unauthorized Biography, noted that Melania can “be as active in the East Wing or as inactive as she cares to be.”
“She is not someone secretly supporting the resistance, tapping SOS on the windowpanes – that’s not her,” Bennett told the network.
I’ll leave you to make your own wisecracks about Melania being a confidant and advisor. We know it’s a crock of b.s. Still, we will see at least some of Melania in the years ahead. Much to her dismay she’ll still have to do stuff like ‘The fooking Chrees-Muss decorations” and if you need to amuse yourself with “Christian” MAGA torment let’s see them react to what’s to come. She already gave us the ‘Harry Potter Dementors’ theme as shown in the title pic. And no one can ever erase the image of the ‘Used Tampon Christmas Trees’ from their minds. Hey, she felt and will again feel like if SHE is suffering punishment by having to play dutiful wife to her P.O.S. hubby in about the highest profile way then by God she’ll punish everyone else.
So, there will be that. And some other ceremonial stuff like on Inauguration night dealing with Trump trying to grab her ass in front of the crowd while dancing. Figuring she won’t make TOO much of a fuss in front of all the people and cameras. You want to amuse yourself with something else? Well, as an early Christmas present I’m happy to comply.
Yesterday Trump went to the WH for the traditional meeting a President-Elect has with the incoming President. (One Trump famously refused to uphold when Biden beat his fat orange butt four years ago) It’s all smiles for the cameras and pleasant chat for the media. Followed by a quick initial talk (with Chiefs of Staff included) to ensure the Transition gets off smoothly. Back in 2016 Trump is known to have been rather stunned, saying he didn’t know how much work the job of actually being President would be. Trump it seemed thought it would be like the Queen’s (now the King’s) job – mostly ceremonial. Some other elected government person would be in charge of carrying out all the actual, you know DUTIES of the office.
First Ladies can be fairly active and high profile if they want. Not all do, and in any case they take care not to intrude on their POTUS hubby’s agenda. Melania HATED every bit of it. But there IS a ceremonial aspect to the job that she can if she embraces it bask in if she just shows up and smiles. In other words, have a small and entirely ceremonial role. Trump wanted a “Bigly” but still ceremonial role. One he could enjoy a lot of when he wanted and when he wanted to take it easy simply relax and kick back. Just imagine his fury that Melania, freaking MELANIA is going to do what he always envisioned his role as President would be!
I don’t know about you but I find that funny as hell. Even if we are going to have to put up with a smattering of ‘Melanie’, ‘Melanoma’ (insert your own insult name if you like) appearances. You’ve heard me say it before and I’m sure I’ll be saying it over and over moving forward: Take your amusement and fun/pleasure where you can find it. In this case we might get a twofer – very little of Melania AND Trump being pissed off that she’s getting to be entirely ceremonial AND only when she feels like it. When he thought years ago HE would be the one getting to be that way!
Natasha will certainly take her cut as he empties the treasury and sells secrets raking in God knows what. Hey if vampire boy can get 2 billion from the bone sawing Saudis, I’m sure Trump can find national defense secrets worth more…if he hasn’t already sold them. The title of first lady should be changed to Queen of the Money Whores.

What grown son wants his mommy hovering around him at college? If there’s any truth to him being the reason the mel will stay in NY, Barron must be a very needy boy-man.
Well, his sperm donor (no one would call Trump an actual father) has for decades openly lusted after his daughter from his first marriage. PUBLICLY. In front of her even. It’s not a stretch to wonder if Barron has a touch of Oedipus Complex. As for ‘Melanie’ I think he’s more of an excuse she can use to avoid her P.O.S. hubby. Playacting at being a ‘helicopter mom’ is a smokescreen she can, more often than not hide behind.
She and Barron have their deal. He can “party” with coeds from school in his part of the Trump residence and Melania can do the same with whatever “boy toy” with a MILF fetish happens to strike her fancy. And “mum” is the mutual word – pun intended!
sadly, any public appearances melanoma makes will no longer be paid by the pac, no, they will be paid by we the people. Although, sadly, there is no longer any we the people. She’ll be there when putin or any wealthy (or very handsome) leader requires the so called first lady to be present according to protocol.
I’m pretty sure Wiles will take care of Xmas. Melania will b there only for photo ops with prime minister and kings
