Rudy being Rudy has himself in hotter water here in the U.S. (where it’s damn hot, at least down south) than when he left, which is quite the feat. Guiliani took his mouth out for a walk in Tel Aviv again, and stated, per Raw Story: that Melania Trump “believes her husband” and “knows it’s untrue” that her husband had an extramarital affair with Daniels, the former porn actress.
That’s quite the affirmation of her husband, if she actually said it.
However, today we’re lucky. As noted on Morning Joe, today we get a look into what Melania is thinking: Her staff put out a brief statement – it didn’t need to, but must have felt the need to send a message, and not to just Rudy:
“I don’t believe Mrs. Trump has ever discussed her thoughts on anything with Mr. Giuliani,” East Wing communications director Stephanie Grisham said in a statement.
Except then how would Rudy know what Mrs. Trump believes?
Ahhhh, that’s the whole point, to cut Rudy’s legs right out from under him. We know it was no accident, either, because the First Lady’s office puts out a statement about as often as Donald Trump tells the truth. So, this one intended to hit its mark. Joe thought so:
“There is a way to just swat away questions and politely answer questions, and then there’s a way to get into your monster truck and drive over a little car and crush it and go back,” Scarborough said. “Her spokesperson didn’t have to respond. Instead, not only did they respond, but they also said of Rudy Giuliani’s claim that she doesn’t believe Donald Trump had a relationship with Stormy Daniels, ‘I don’t believe Mrs. Trump has ever discussed her thoughts on anything with Mr. Giuliani.’”
I don’t know what goes through Melania’s mind (no one does). And, I do appreciate that she has Barron to worry about, far more than the other child she lives in proximity to. But, at least this morning, Melania showed that she remains a viable candidate among the many women who could bring down Trump’s presidency. Melania could just do it with greater speed.
