He keeps hinting at sending armed people to polling places on the grounds that a warrant is out for someone, or some other specious reason. We’ve seen this for a while. We have to figure out that if he is talking about it, there’s a greater than 50% chance he’s planning on it. That is a HUGE no-no.
There are United States Codes that say you can’t do that. And if you do, you’re likely to be arrested and charged for it. Wouldn’t that be a sight to see? Members of ICE/CBP being dragged off to jail instead of ICE dragging off a supposed illegal immigrant to deport them. What goes around comes around. Considering all ICE/CBP has done, it would make us very happy and add to the next No Kings protest. (We should hope someone protests outside the Trump-a-palooza. That would be beautiful.)
Markywayne really is that dumb. He thinks DHS is all-powerful and he doesn’t need permission from anyone, except maybe Trump, except he is the one giving Markywayne and DHS the permission to act as they please. Get those illegal immigrants out of the US as Trump promised he would. There’s a problem with that. They *are* subject to the rule of law. (And Stephen Miller wants 3,000 illegal immigrants to be deported per day. He won’t accept that it’s impossible.) My regards to Raw Story:
Michael Popok said Mullin gave away far more than he realized when he floated sending agents to serve a warrant. “No, you can’t,” Popok said. “And you just conceded that you’re willing to commit a crime punishable by five years in prison.” Mullin insisted any operation would be “specifically for immigration and custom enforcement,” and “not because of suspicion of a voter.” Popok said the excuse does not hold because the law reaches armed federal officers no matter the stated reason. “He should be put on notice that if he does that, he’ll not only go to jail, but he will be impeached as soon as the new Congress takes control,” Popok said. “Markwayne Mullin should go back to plumbing school.”
We don’t know if he’s smart enough to be a plumber. He didn’t learn from Noem’s mistakes, and he should have. Everyone else was, yet he was oblivious. Why *did* Trump choose him? Why didn’t any Senator pick up on this and raise a protest? Oh, wait, this was up to the Republicans. They are under Trump‘s foot and monkey see, monkey do. But we can hope for Markywayne to get fired at any point in the future when he makes Trump look bad. That’s a small chance, but still a chance. There are quite a few people who should be impeached. Just saying.
In the meantime, Mullin is letting ICE rampage loose. We’ve already heard about field agents telling their superiors to go away because they don’t need them. That’s a bad sign. So are shock gloves. So is sending ICE agents to the polls for whatever made-up nonsense reason. How many people will see them, turn around, and not vote? Turnout is usually apathetic. So actually, we need everyone we can get. And we hope for Mullin to say something that puts him in jail. Wouldn’t that be lovely?
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love.
