Whoa, now. Here we have proof that military people are having trouble with Trump’s rhetoric and potential orders. He was in the corps for 24 years, and he walks. This is a very public sign that the military is having trouble with Trump. And we already heard about potential plans to work around him. Remember, they swear an oath to the *Constitution*. They don’t swear an oath to the president. No ssirree. But Trump seems to think they do. From Raw Story:
Citing the misuse of National Guard units and alarming comments about the “enemy from within,’’ a U.S. Marine Corps veteran walked away from his 24-year career rather than take orders from Donald Trump. In a column published by the Washington Post, veteran Doug Krugman wrote that he had already decided to resign his commission before Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth held their much-maligned gathering of generals and admirals in Quantico, Virginia. According to the veteran of two wars, the president’s rhetoric about the threats the country faces does not match up with reality, and he did not want to be put in the position of having to defy an order — particularly one where he would have to take up arms against fellow Americans.
WHAM. Thank you, sir! Take up arms against fellow Americans. He said the quiet part out loud. We may hear more of the same. Let’s hope. We don’t know how many other armed forces personnel will do the same. Some may want to finish up their “terms”, and then they are gone. We are going to be losing top talent because of Trump and Secretary Hegseth, plus, remember the lie detector nonsense at the Pentagon. *THAT* is just insulting and adding fuel to the fire. Our military personnel are likely unhappy now, even if they can’t say so.
Writing, “I continued to serve despite all that because I believed the Constitution brought the country more success than failure, and I believed our presidents took their oaths to it seriously,” he added, “With President Trump, I no longer believe that. During his first term, his actions became increasingly difficult for me to justify, culminating with the Jan. 6 attack on Congress as it tried to execute its duties.” Krugman cited Trump’s increased menacing of cities with claims about non-existent violence that have only escalated in recent days. Singling out the battle between the president and the courts over the use of the military in the U.S., he added it is a threat to “military cohesion.”
Yea, Trump is causing a lot of problems with the military. Petey Boy pulling in leaders from around the world didn’t help and just gave them proof. The speeches of Secretary Hegseth (oyyyyy) and Trump showed how crazy things are now. And the speeches themselves? Our ‘leadership’ is nuts. We have the best military in the world, but they’re not quite sure what the hell to do. Can we blame them? They don’t know, because of a ‘big man on campus’ and a president who’s sliding into dementia every hour of every day.
More to the point, he wrote, “President Trump’s description of Portland as a ‘war zone’ is as fantastical as his belief that the June protests in a few blocks of Los Angeles would somehow ‘obliterate’ the massive city of nearly 4 million. In both cases, his words had little connection to reality. Every dubious basis he gives for an order creates more room for doubt, more room for reservations and more threats to our unity.” As a parting shot, he suggested his fellow brothers in arms think hard about the position the increasingly belligerent and delusional Trump may be putting them in.
“I do not claim to speak for any other person or institution. I respect those who still serve, many of whom have service contracts and can’t simply retire like I did,” he confessed. “But if they have doubts about their orders, they are not alone. They should be confident in questioning possibly immoral or illegal orders, remembering they are responsible for their own actions, and knowing others are asking the same questions.”
And WHAM again. Veteran Doug Krugman laid it all out. You can read more here. He spoke in black and white, and he can’t be ignored. Our military is caught between a rock and a hard place. They swore a vow to the Constitution, but Trump is the Commander-in-Chief. So what do you do when faced with a crazy (harmful?) order? What do they do?
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise, among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

Perhaps like this ole jarhead Col. Krugman has come to the sad conclusion that in a country that would allow someone like Trump into the WH his service didn’t mean shit. Part of me holds out hold one day it will again have seemed worth it, but I salute him for standing up for the fact Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful) means to God, Country and Corps. But definitely NOT Donald f**king Trump.
Um, sorry, but the man’s a coward.
From his own “confession”:
““But if they have doubts about their orders, they are not alone. They should be confident in questioning possibly immoral or illegal orders, remembering they are responsible for their own actions, and knowing others are asking the same questions.”
Yeah, “They should be confident in questioning possibly immoral or illegal orders” but, by walking away as he did, he’s NOT questioning those orders. He’s now in NO position to stand up to Drumpf or Kegsbreath and openly defy their illegal orders.
Phuck the coward. (And, NO, he gets no “thanks for your service” blather either. When his service was most needed, he “deserted.”)
A man who put 24 years into the Corp is NOT A COWARD. Please enlighten us about YOUR MILITARY SERVICE. I get your point but calling him a coward is arrogant, entitled, and misguided…so PROVE you know what you’re talking about by exposing YOUR service. Otherwise…who’s really the coward? You risk nothing. He put his ass on the line for 24 years. So…let’s hear it.
Geez I’m shocked shocked Joseph hasn’t given us HIS MILITARY RECORD TO JUSTIFY HIM CALLING ANY MARINE OR VET A COWARD!!!! WHERE ARE YOU OH GREAT AND POWERFUL OZ????? HIDING BEHIND THE CURTAIN OF COWARDICE AND HYPOCRISY PERHAPS???????????
great
