It’s been a record breaking hot summer so far and maybe MAGAs, like dogs everywhere, are going mad from the heat. The QAnon faction of MAGA, which is pretty much all of MAGA, believes that by some magic, some mechanism which doesn’t even exist in our laws, that Donald Trump will be reinstated to power. And if he’s not, they predict violence and even civil war. Bat guano on stilts and steroids.

The bad manners don’t bother me anywhere near as much as the delusion does.
Speaking of delusion, the Arizona audit is cratering to a halt the end of this month, which is today. Tim Miller of The Bulwark says get ready for the shitstorm that will follow the Arizona “recount.”
Today the insurrection is ongoing and the next potentially violent inflection point will come in the weeks after the results of the Arizona “audit” are revealed. The audit, which is being conducted by the “Cyber Ninjas” and funded at least in part by my old pal Lin Wood, is set to deliver some type of result soon. The state senate’s audit “liaison” Ken Bennett (congrats on the fancy title, Ken) said that they expect the process will take most of the “rest of this month.”
Much like Trump’s Four Seasons Total Landscaping coup attempt, the Arizona audit is being ignored by Republican leaders such as Mitch McConnell and Kevin Mccarthy, who are not engaging on the subject publicly and privately consider it a shambolic sideshow. This while conservative allies dismiss those of us who are alarmed about the ongoing risks to democracy. […]
Activists in the QAnon movement have described the audit as the first step in “The Great Awakening.” And Arizona Republican Party Chairwoman Kelli Ward has threatened “arrests” of those who did not comply with the audit. (N.B.: The Arizona Republican Party does not yet have the power to detain citizens for crimes against MAGA.) […]
Sometime soon the results of the Arizona audit will be brought forth. It seems quite likely, given the participants, that the auditor ninjas will claim that Donald Trump won Arizona. Or probably won Arizona—who can say! Or would have won Arizona, if not for those meddling kids.
And if this happens, the former president and his MAGA media echo chamber will once again stoke the flames of insurrection. Q-adherents will convince themselves that one of the seven seals has been revealed. Millions (tens of millions) of Republicans throughout the country will believe it. And some of them will demand action.
So when the Arizona audit bell tolls, what exactly is McConnell and McCarthy’s plan?
Because it sure looks as though they are dooming us all to repeat the same history we just lived through, humoring Trump’s delusions and hoping that none of their supporters die in their imaginary fight for freedom this time.
The fizzling out of the Arizona audit could be the prelude to Insurrection II. So far there is no indication that GOP leadership has learned a damn thing or is planning to do anything differently.
Meanwhile, millions of Americans stumble in political darkness, believing things that simply are not so, because their elected officials don’t deem it prudent to tell them the truth. And as we speak this afternoon, a defensive looking Donald Trump sits next to Greg Abbott at the southern border and hugs himself, which is his body language for, “Help! I’m scared so I’m going to talk tough. How about I threaten ‘fire and fury such as the world has never seen.’ Oh, right, I did that one already.” Maybe we can get him an American flag to hug for emotional support.
Let’s just see if we can get through 4th of July weekend without an explosion in Trump world.

One of the ones from 1/6 was stupid enough to be buying firearms and ammunition via Yahoo. The feds noticed – would have been hard not to, he was sending like two or three orders per week, and for lots of money. So they did a check, as part of his conditional release, and found all the stuff, plus a partial (built but not loaded) pipe bomb. The feds are Not Happy with him.
If the heat doesn’t get them, COVID will. The self-destructive tendencies of this crowd is enough to make lemmings ultimate survivors by comparison.
If they attempt “Insurrection II”, they may find it a bit more challenging.
They don’t have “Orange Crush” in the White House pumping the brakes on deploying police or National Guard troops. The redux could end up a whole lot bloodier for the idiots storming the Bastille.
They seem to think the Feds aren’t watching or listening.
They probably believe Tucker Carlson’s nonsensical rant about the FBI being behind the Jan 6 insurrection and interpret that as the feds not only being on their side but also on the inside smoothing the way. If that sounds irrational, that’s a sign that it’s plausible to these batshit nutters.
For QAnon MAGA cultists, the more irrational it is, the more readily they will believe it.
If, I recall correctly, ‘ninjas’ were never an elite group – they were low-class mercenaries, asassins and spies, well below the intellectual or honour level of samurai.

Do what you gotta do, Trumpers. Just be forewarned that we have ample prison space in this country.
It IS a challenge to see the totally convinced, intelligence vacant, people in interviews support the fantasy of trump back in the WH, and still remember that these people are a real threat to someone somewhere and sometime, buying into more guns, more ammo and just waiting for some bizarre, “trigger”, while the rest of us grit our teeth and hope our own system of intelligence monitoring can protect us from the mayhem that Trump thrives on … they are facing a real bloodshed moment if they try another stunt like 01-06 …
With the new management in the WH, the refurbished FBI and House Intelligence crews working FOR US and our democracy, to think they have not initiated huge amounts of info tracking and persistent methods of violence avoidance would be infantile …
We don’t have a lot of prison space in this country, given the incarceration rate for non violent offenders. But, I get you. Do the insurrection, officials will make space for them.
