As always, anyhing associated with Donald Trump has the word “unprecedented” tagged onto it. He has a new vice president. The last one scurried through the tunnels under the Capitol with his wife and daughter in tow after Trump sicced a mob on him. The mob marched to where Mike Pence was, chanting “Hang Mike Pence!” and the gallows were conveniently there. I think history may very well record that moment as the bottom of this republic — although Trump may take us still lower. As long as he is part of our political process, on any level, look for America to become sicker.
The latest downward plunge is the addition of J.D. Vance to the ticket. Vance used to think straight about Trump — as did Lindsey Graham. As did Mike Lee. As did Ted Cruz, Kevin McCarthy, etc. Vance’s comments are coming back to bite him in the ass and this is what Democrats need to publicize. This is the real Vance. The toxic MAGA mouthpiece is a role he’s playing because it serves a purpose.

That’s the size of it. Doug Burgum criticized him and so did Marco Rubio. Ironically, the person who criticized him the most vociferously was J.D. Vance.

The tweet ends, “the party of Lincoln, Reagan, or the Constitution.” As ususal, the voices of sane and rational Republicans, the old guard, are drowned out because the party is gone and MAGA is in its place.
Vance has chosen to dance with the devil. Let’s see where it gets him. His future should be interesting.
