Let’s see what happens in this new skirmish in the Republican civil war. Liz Cheney has not only accepted a position on Nancy Pelosi’s January 6 Select Committee, she’s rubbing Kevin McCarthy’s nose in it.

The second half of 2021 is not getting off to a great start for McCarthy. If he punishes Cheney for taking the assignment, then he shows himself to be a petty and base obstructionist. He he doesn’t punish Cheney, then he shows himself to be toothless and weak. Either way, it’s not good optics.
I want everyone to remember this moment. When people look back, they will say what I do now: this was the start of the first true American conservative movement attuned to realities of the 21st Century.

As much as the GQP hates it, there needs to be an investigation into the horrific events of January 6th. I shouldn’t even have to be saying this, but that is what we’ve come to.
