What the hell happened to Lindsey Graham? His 180 degree spin with respect to Donald Trump would do justice to the best alien mind control techniques in the world of science fiction. Graham is a convert to the Cult of Trump, and this is where he started out.

“I want to talk to the Trump supporters for a minute. I don’t know who you are and I don’t know why you like this guy. I think what you like about him is that he appears to be strong and the rest of us are weak. He’s a very successful businessman and he’s going to make everything great. He’s gonna take all the problems of the world and put ’em in a box and make your life better. That’s what he’s selling. Here’s what you’re buying. He’s a race baiting, xenophobic religious bigot. He doesn’t represent my party. He doesn’t represent the values of the men and women in uniform. He’s the ISIL Man of the Year.”

“What Mr. Trump is doing, and I don’t think he has a clue about anything, he’s just trying to get his numbers up and get the biggest reaction he can, he’s putting our soldiers and diplomats at risk, he’s empowering the enemy, and this ban, if it’s actually enacted, would take people who are interpreters, who came to our side in Iraq and Afghanistan and who are under siege in their own countries and [it] basically becomes a death sentence for them.”

Very powerful and to the point. So what happened? Because this is where Graham is nowadays, when asked by reporters to comment on the “Send her back!” chant at the North Carolina rally last week.

Here’s what think: I think the President is playing on the 1968 ‘Love it or Leave it,’” Graham said, referring a late 1960s slogan that targeted Vietnam war protesters. “I’ve said before that if you’re a Somali refugee wearing a MAGA hat, he doesn’t want to send you back. You’d probably have dinner at the White House.”

“The President believes that what they’re doing is over the top,” Graham continued. “We’re not running concentration camps. So when you start accusing people of running concentration camps who work for the United States government, you’re gonna be met with some pretty fiery responses.”

Lindsey Graham may have spoken his mind a few years ago, but it’s obvious that since then he’s had a good swig of the Kool-Aid and decided that the supreme leader must not be challenged and that dissent will not be tolerated. He would have done great working with Joseph Stalin.

I don’t know who did what to Lindsey Graham or what kompromat Russia might hold, or how many rubles they offered to buy him off — but I do know one thing: Lindsey Graham has come to love Big Brother.

    • What can he possibly be thinking? He has so clearly rolled over on all that he believed and presumably stood for. I not only don’t know how he lives with himself, I don’t know how he thinks he’s going to justify this to his constituents.

      • Sooner or later, the kompromat, whatever it turns out to be, will hit screens everywhere, and that, ladies and gentlemen, will constitute Lindsay Graham’s Chernobyl-moment. As for what that kompromat is, I can only surmise it’s something so heinous, it’ll mean jail-time. I’d feel sorry for the old bastard, but he keeps making the same deadly choice over and over again, and I hate a coward.

        • I, too, am of the mind that Graham must be hiding from something big. Maybe it’s just that he took money from the Russians. Could it be something that simple?

          • If only it were. By my estimation–based only in part on that infamous recording of Republican senators who didn’t know they were being taped while joking about Russian money and influence within their own party–70% of GOP lawmakers are compromised one way or another. I genuinely don’t think that scares them, though. If Russia saves their asses again and they win big in 2020, they can pass whatever 1984-style law they want making accepting millions in foreign “campaign donations” as American as baseball. I believe it’s that bad.

  1. He is a two faced piece of ???. You can’t trust a word he has to say. When Dumpy get defeated in 2020 everything that Dumpy did he will disavow it and come running back to Dumpy was a bad man. Lindsey is as trustworthy as a rattlesnake you are trying to pick up bare handed in the dark.

  2. S.C. Has a +7 Trump approval, which makes it one of Trump’s strongest states. Therefore, Graham’s flip seems like political opportunism.

However, it seems odd that he’s gone this cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs over Trump. Doing do will certainly cement his legacy. Did he not feel that he couldn’t have supported Trump from the sidelines like all the other Republicans? I mean…I’m not an expert…but I have to think there was a path to being on the Trump train but, but a seat other than in Trump’s lap. (That’s a horrible metaphor. Somebody send that to Murph to polish up, because the whole train imagery is just NOT working, lol.)
