Ooo ta, she’s done it again. She’s trying to defend another Trumpism. She just can’t figure out that her mouth spews nonsense as she tries to explain away something that is very obvious as wrong to everyone else. Even Fux “News” might take a pass on this one. From AlterNet this time:
The White House appears to be telegraphing President Donald Trump’s plans to expand the domestic deployment of military forces across U.S. cities — defying opposition from local leaders — while attacking the press for reporting it. Describing the President’s deployment of the National Guard and U.S. military, ostensibly to protect ICE agents, federal buildings, and patrol city streets, as a “proven formula” to curb crime — which FBI data show was already declining nationwide — Leavitt rebuked the press for “framing this like the president wants to take over the American cities with the military.”
Hello, Captain Obvious? That is exactly what he’s trying to do. Cities and states are fighting against El Presidente Imbécil, trying to send in the National Guard so he can work towards martial law. All of us here at PZ figured this out a long time ago. She doesn’t seem to really comprehend what Trump is doing. It’s babbling, just like the Yahoo pair last week. Sheesh!
Asked at Monday’s briefing if Democrats have “reason to be concerned that there are long-term plans by this administration to keep U.S. military or the National Guard in American cities, like what we’re seeing here in Washington,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters, “Why should they be concerned about the federal government offering help to make their cities a safer place?” Aside from Washington, D.C., no mayor who has been notified of possible federal troops on their streets has supported the idea. Mayor Bowser has taken a reserved stance, given the District’s federal constraints. Federal law, in most cases, requires the governor to ask the President for troops.
Stuff and nonsense. The cities have said Oh hell NO, don’t even think about it! It’s bullshizzle reasons that collapse once we look at the places a little more closely. They do NOT need the Guard. They are handling their cities just fine. Even DC already had a crime level decrease. That one is a difficult place since they aren’t a state, per se. Wouldn’t it be nice if they finally got statehood? Yes, no, maybe?
“They should be concerned about the fact that people in their cities right now are being gunned down every single night, and the president, all he’s trying to do is fix it,” Leavitt insisted, despite troops largely being unwelcome. She decried what she alleged was a “complete smear campaign by the Democrats and the media, quite frankly.” “And it’s a proven system that works, and the president wants to make America’s cities safe again,” Leavitt added. “And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.”
What is the matter with you, woman? We’ve already heard from LA that they didn’t need the Guard to control “riots”. They are bored out of their minds because They Are Not Needed. Portland protesters are having a more carnival-type protest. Not much has been said about Chicago yet, so we don’t have any information about it at this time. Nevertheless, troops are unwelcome so far, and they know it. One would expect that they don’t want to be there, either. To close:
Leavitt: I was reading Politico Playbook—you guys are framing this like the president wants to take over the American cities with the military. //// Critics blasted Leavitt’s remarks. //// “Troops are being deployed to US cities where the crime rate has plummeted—against the wishes of states, cities, and local residents. It IS a takeover. No other way to frame it,” wrote political strategist Sawyer Hackett. //// Democratic activist and strategist Olivia Julianna pointed to a headline that read: “Trump says military should use U.S. cities as ‘training grounds’.” She commented, “This was LAST WEEK btw.” //// Author and political commentator Brian Tyler Cohen remarked: “Probably because that is *quite literally* what’s happening.”
Yes, exactly what he’s doing. The man wants to call martial law on the country (oof) and is trying to find an excuse. But his master plan of starting with cities, then likely moving to states, and the whole USA isn’t working. One can almost bet (*almost*) that even MAGA wouldn’t be happy about this, either. There’s a world of difference between devotion to Trump and the military where you live. Our troops would be spread thin, and that’s bad.
What if something actually happened? Well, KKKaroline would find a way to say everything’s just fine, thank you. In the meantime, we could end up being at war somewhere and not have enough people to defend ourselves. How is she going to explain that away? Is she going to get creative or tell the truth?
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise you, of all the outlets asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

They are our national guardners here to help rake leaves. What’s wrong with that? Karoliar asks.
It’s called “gaslighting”. She’s just not very good at it, because she’s only reading from a script.
