This is gooood. And funny. And expert-level trolling. Mr. Acosta takes a look at all of Trump’s “improvements” and vanity projects that taxpayers are funding. This is getting old, paying for all of Trump’s nonsense. Jesse Water’s fee-fees were hurt, and he had to complain. Well, Mr. Acosta for the win! I respect Raw Story:

Former CNN reporter Jim Acosta had a reality check for Fox News’ Jesse Watters, after the latter objected to the former’s criticism of President Donald Trump’s latest vanity project in Washington, D.C.

“After Jesse Watters of Fox complained about my story on Trump’s ridiculous reflecting pool project, I decided to do a fuller report on many of the ways Trump is ruining DC. CRY MORE,” he wrote on X, attaching a video montage of some of Trump’s other projects.

Trump is making DC over in his gaudy, ridiculous image. He’s changing all these things purely because he can. He loves to spend other people’s money (see: our taxes). The reflecting pool happened to be what Waters whinged about. But there is more than just the pool. Oh, are there ever. And they’re all needless!

“Hey guys, I thought it would be a good idea to walk around Washington, D.C., and look at all of the insane ways that Donald Trump is ruining your nation’s capital,” said Acosta. “And guess who’s paying for it? That’s right — you’re paying for it! Just in time for America’s 250th birthday. Let’s take a look.”

Acosta started by looking at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next to the White House, where Trump is planning to give the historic stone facade it a coat of white paint.

He then went to the traffic circle where Trump plans to build his victory arch, possibly funded by a legal settlement from TikTok. “[It would be larger than the Lincoln Memorial … it would be twice as high as the Lincoln Memorial.

It would be, yes, shorter than the Washington Monument, but almost as tall as the U.S. Capitol. And Trump wants to do this anyway, even though there are veterans’ groups who are pissed about this because, take a look at this, the arch would actually dwarf the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery.”

Let’s just say it isn’t only veterans who are pissed about it. I, at least, am pissed about it too. There is NO NEED for an arch. There’s no point! Everything is fine the way it is. Could it be torn down? That’s the question, if it gets finished in time. It would be lovely to see Trump out of office with nothing completely built. Of course, JD Vance would probably complete everything if the 25th Amendment came into play. We would continue paying for it. But placing that arch where it’s planned to go is going to make a lot of people continue to be angry because it’s pointless! It’s purely vanity from Trump. Ok, got sidetracked a bit, there. Moving on.

Acosta then took a look at the Reflecting Pool project, where Trump is painting the entire structure blue. “Trump seems to think that all these federal workers are going to be able to make this look like a swimming pool by using blue paint on the bottom … and Jesse Watters got so angry about this that he did a video, perhaps you saw it.”

He posted the video of Watters, proclaiming “TDS Tuesday” and saying Acosta is “crying like a baby” for criticizing the project.

“Jesse, don’t you realize that in like a few months, all the pollen and the leaves and the birds pooping in it and the ducks and so on, it’s just going to go back to looking the same way it was before he spent millions of dollars on all of this?” he said.

Ha. Well said. Blue paint is not going to make a difference on the Reflecting Pool for exactly those reasons. It’s called nature. It doesn’t need to look like a swimming pool, either, because it isn’t. It’s not necessary. It’s a waste of time and money. But then again, Trump’s nonsense arch will be the same thing. Does anyone remember the reason for the arch, or is it just because Trump wants one? Painting or building, only because he wants it that way. It’s all about excess. Just look at the Oval Office. Good grief.

Then he went to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, which a group of Trump appointees slapped Trump’s name on, calling it “outrageous and appallingpeople don’t want to come to this place anymore,” and then the Institute of Peace, which Trump also put his name ondespite starting a war in the Middle East that is making everybody’s gas prices go up.

Finally, he went to the ballroom, which Trump already razed the East Wing to build — and which Republicans are trying to approve a $1 billion security package for despite Trump initially promising it would be privately funded. “You’re welcome!” Acosta concluded.

WHAM. Jesse Waters likely didn’t know what hit him. The best (or worst) part was that everything Mr. Acosta said was true. Trump is not content with making over the White House in his image. He’s now expanded his horizons. Everything he wants is a vanity project. No one will even try to stop him. Democrats are in the minority … for now. Republicans have yet to realize they can do just fine without Trump’s support for the midterms. And we are going to fight against one darn billion for the ballroom we don’t need, and don’t want. But the East Wing is still gone. and never should have been touched. I’m beyond pissed about that, and shall probably stay that way. Now, our taxes are going to pay for something stupid. Or rather, many something stupids.

See you soon!

Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. The president that succeeds Donald should make it their first official act to de-trumpify Washington. That includes demolishing the arch and the ballroom and restoring the East Wing to it’s previous state, maybe with some modern amenities.

    • I am one of few who wanted to see the World Trade Center rebuilt after its destruction with all its original shortcomings remedied (wallboard instead of concrete surrounding the steel skeleton cores, fire retardant properly applied to steel structural supports, etc.), and made 111 stories tall in place of the original 110 as a gesture of defiance toward the terrorists and their supporters (I spent 6 months as a contractor with a company based in the North Tower during 2000 and gained a deep appreciation for it).

By the same line of reasoning, I’d like to see the East Wing rebuilt to its original appearance, but incorporating every advance and improvement in construction materials and techniques implemented in the 200+ years since its original construction.

      • Good sentiments, LISuburbanite, but the East Wing was not built by the Founding Parents. It is less than 125 years old. I inquired online and got the following AI answer:

        AI Overview

The White House East Wing was originally built in 1902 during the administration of Theodore Roosevelt as a visitor entrance. It was significantly expanded in 1942 by Franklin D. Roosevelt to add a second story, office space, and an underground bomb shelter.
