Then he wouldn’t be showing his decided lack of intelligence. He certainly doesn’t seem to have much, or he wouldn’t be saying these outrageous things (see: ambushing Zelenskyy grrrr). Well, the latest is definitely one of those. This one is a doozy. He tries to be Trump, and it’s just not working. From Raw Story:
A former Biden administration official is pouring cold water on Vice President JD Vance’s future aspirations after warning that comments he made this week while hosting the “Charlie Kirk Show” could come back to haunt him in a potential 2028 presidential bid. Vance hosted the “Charlie Kirk Show” on Monday in the wake of right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk’s killing last week, and used the platform to denounce those ‘celebrating’ Kirk’s death.
These are the first two problems. First, he hosted the podcast. Second, he’s not Charlie Kirk and can’t get away with that nonsense, not as Vice President. MAGA belongs to Trump, and his aspirations to take over don’t seem to be taking hold very well. Without MAGA, he’s going to have much more of a problem with any sort of election. I think he won’t get much from the rest of the Republicans. I doubt he’ll have much support from Congress, either.
Vance’s repeated condemnations and the manner in which he said them could prove problematic, however, for a future presidential bid, at least according to Andrew Bates, former White House spokesperson under President Joe Biden. “If Vance tries to run in the 2028 cycle, I think that is a very telling moment about what are your real convictions, what are your real values, because it is an insult to every American that has been harmed by political violence, whatever their point of view was, to try to use it to fuel more anger and more division,” Bates said during an appearance on the “Raging Moderates” podcast that aired Friday.
And there’s his next problem. He’s raging on and trying to incite violence over Charlie Kirk’s “assassination”. That’s part of MY problem with this Charlie Kirk mess, because I believe he was killed, he wasn’t “assassinated”. This wasn’t a professional hit by someone paid to do it. It was just a guy who decided to see if he could do this. And we’ll move along because I could rant about that for hours.
Vance spent a significant portion of the two-hour episode condemning critics of Kirk, declaring that “no unity” was possible with those who “celebrate Charlie Kirk’s Assassination.” “And there is no unity with the people who fund these articles, who pay the salaries of these terrorist sympathizers, who argue that Charlie Kirk – a loving husband and father – deserved a shot to the neck because he spoke words with which they disagree!” Vance said.
But Vance’s comments on the “Charlie Kirk Show,” Bates argued, could be dredged up amid a potential White House bid, which Bates characterized as ‘railing against unity.’ “That is the exact opposite of how you’re supposed to react,” Bates said. “You’re supposed to respect people’s grief, not by exploiting them, not by trying to turn them against their fellow Americans. I don’t think there are many people whose first reaction was ‘we need more division,’ but that is what he was preaching.”
WHAM. There ya go. It certainly *is* the exact opposite. What he’s saying is just wrong. This is not respect for his family and the people who followed him. This is trying to drum up support for dividing the country and turning person against person. I’m not sorry that Kirk is gone, but I *am* sorry for his wife and family and the people of Turning Point. And I’m sorry that he died in such a way. The people watching didn’t deserve that either. How many people are going to be traumatized? Vance is preaching division. That’s not going to fly. That’s not going to get him any fans. We’ve all seen him put his foot in his mouth for stupid, aggressive comments far too many times. He needs to keep his mouth shut.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thanks. Ursula

By the time 2028 rolls around people aren’t going to remember what Shady JD had to say yesterday or even care. I’m thinking it’s a non starter, but we’ll have to wait & see, still have a ways to go…
Oh, I hope so! JD as MAGA just doesn’t work. He’s a side note to Trump, and not a vary good one. I’ll bet he gets ignored a LOT. Well, except when he is on vacation and pisses people off. And Greenland wants nothing to do with him. And so forth.
“I’m not sorry that Kirk is gone, but I *am* sorry for his wife and family and the people of Turning Point.”
Considering the *performance* that his wife gave at his funeral–wearing a freaking microphone while leaning over his coffin (with a VIDEO CAMERA capturing the whole thing) so that her “loving memory” and “final words” could be captured? That woman deserves NO sympathy. Nor do the leeches and grifters at “Turning Point.” I’m willing to feel sorry for the poor kids (especially considering their “loving” father didn’t extend any sympathy to the thousands of children who died in school shootings over the decades–gotta wonder if he’d have felt HIS kids would’ve been “acceptable sacrifices” for the 2nd Amendment?) but not that “wife” of his. If someone can prove her behavior is the result of abuse by Kirk–and she was little more than a hostage–I might extend some sympathy but I fully believe she agreed with everything Kirk spewed.
Point taken and conceded. I didn’t know that. So no, not sorry for her but sorry for the kids who have that kind of parents. People these days are getting ridiculous. And that crap sells! Half of the US has fallen so low….
Oh the irony! Speaking of people that should just shut up…
