Speaking today to a lightly attended (if the audience response is anything to go by) campaign rally in the suburbs of Pittsburg, Trump VP hopeful JD Vance seriously detoured into lala land when he stated, without a whiff of irony, that fatso philanderer “exemplifies” the spirit of the USMC’s revered motto “Semper fidelis” or “always faithful”. To be sure, Vance was referring to fidelity to our men and women in uniform, and not to ones marriage partner, but in either case the Mango menace fails the test miserably. In fact I would hazard to say that the one and only entity that Trump has ever been faithful to is himself… and maybe his buddy Putin.
Vance has apparently swallowed so much of the Kool-Aid at this point that not only can he not distinguish between fact and fiction but also between what is merely vastly implausible and comically outrageous:
“Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance insisted that former President Donald Trump could be described with the Marine Corps motto, Semper Fidelis, or “always faithful.”
During a speech in Pennsylvania on Thursday, Vance spoke about Trump’s record with veterans.
“I honor every member of every branch of our armed forces, but the one thing that I think the Marines really do well is we have the best motto,” Vance said. “I’m biased with Semper Fidelis — always faithful, right?”
You hear Marines say it all the time, Semper Fi, and to me, what it means is that Marines are always faithful to our country,” he continued. “I want to expound upon it because I really do think that Donald Trump exemplifies that motto because his government and under his leadership, the United States was always faithful to the veterans of this country.”
“That’s something for us to be proud of his record, and his vision is a vision of always being faithful to those who put on the uniform.”
How Vance, who has already demonstrated his disdain of Trump in remarks he made before he joined the cult, can mouth these words without choking on them is beyond me.
Aaron Rupar’s followers on Twitter were also appropriately aghast:
A Marine Veteran who pins the coveted oath of the Marine Corps,
To a convicted felon, rapist and serial adulterer.Vance is a disgrace to all Marines.

Damn straight.
Donald didn’t serve. Stolen valor words from JD Vance.

He’s not just weird and creepy.
Now he’s getting ridiculous— Pearse Reynolds 🇮🇪🇪🇺🔶💙 (@PearseReynolds) August 15, 2024
Yup
It is disgraceful for a Marine Veteran to bestow the esteemed oath of the Marine Corps upon an individual who has never been faithful to anyone or anything.

How can he look at himself in a mirror?
Called our military “suckers and losers.”
Insulted Gold Star families.
Said of POW John McCain that he prefers those who “didn’t get captured.”
Didn’t want disabled amputee vets to be at his events because it makes him look bad.
But sure, JV Vance…whatever you say.

Such a stupid thing to say. Vance is proving himself to be a nut job.
— Kathleen Ryan, LMSW (@kat8888) August 15, 2024
Or an ambitious flunky.
Vance may think he is proving himself a loyal supporter to der Gropinfuhrer saying this crap, but what he is really doing is proving himself completely unworthy of anyone’s trust or support.
I don’t see Ohio sending him back to the Senate, and after this campaign no one will publish him except maybe the right wing book-mill houses.
Better apply quickly to the Heritage House and Fox News, JD, positions are gonna fill up quick after the fiasco ya’ll are heading for in November.

Right, J.D. The only outgoing American president to stage a coup to try to stay in power, “semper fidelis.” Not to the U.S. Constitution, which is what it actually means. But I have to admit, you are fully within your constitutional rights to say this. Freedom of speech for some is the freedom to get right in the big spotlight and make an ass of themselves.
I wonder if hillbilly boy has roots in MT because my word the boy is dumb. REAL DUMB. He truly needs to be included in the cast of extras for any remake of Deliverance. Give him a banjo-he’ll be perfect.
What a moronic putz.
To which I’d add “skipped a wreath-laying ceremony honoring fallen WWI soldiers at Aisne-Marne American Cemetery because it was raining and he didn’t want to muss his hair.” Other G-7 leaders attended, including Emmanuel Macron and Justin Trudeau, who stood in the rain without umbrellas throughout the ceremony.
It would be belly laughing time if this lying nazi loving traitor wasn’t in the Marines. Good thing Washington isn’t commander in chief…he’d have you hung or shot. If there were any justice in the world you’d be executed on CNN just like the nazis were hung after the Nuremberg trials. Keep talking asshole…some ex veteran may just line up their scope on you…traitor. It’s recently clear stupid young civilians can’t shoot worth shit. Leave it to professional soliders who don’t deserve a dishonorable discharge for betraying their oath and every grave with a veteran in it.
Did Vance serve in a different Marine Corps than I did? VANCE doesn’t embody the spirit of Semper Fidelis. And Trump outright shits on it! Here’s some questions to put to Vance. Trump’s onetime Chief of Staff retired Marine General John Kelly had Trump in tow after annual Memorial Day ceremonies to, with his wife visit the grave of his son, who as a young Marine Officer was killed in combat in Iraq. A fidgety Trump who wanted to get back to the WH and nap, or watch Fox News or whatever looked on, then gestured around and said “I don’t get it. What was in it for them?” It says something about Kelly (not good) he didn’t haul off and knock Trump on his fat ass right then and there. But Vance should be pressed on that incident which is pretty well corroborated despite Trump’s denials and asked how in the hell THAT attitude embodies Semper Fidelis.
Then there was the ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of the end if WWI, The main event in Paris was of course held on Nov. 11 which when I was growing up was known as Armistice Day. On the fiftieth anniversary an effort was organized to ring church bells throughout the country for eleven minutes, starting at 11am. I was the kid in my church who got the honor of ringing the bell at First Presbyterian Church in my small hometown. Forward fifty years to France and days of ceremonies. The day before the big one was of course November 10. THE high holy day in the Marine Corps. The Marine Corps Birthday and to anyone who “bleeds Marine Corps green” THE day. Even Drill Instructors give recruits a little bit of a break!
Part of Marine Corps history that’s one of its iconic moments was the Battle of Belleau Wood. American forces had finally been not only built up enough but integrated into the allied command to mount an offensive against the Germans. They were soundly entrenched in their positions but it was the 5th and 6th Marine Regiments who’s fierceness turned the tide for the allies and broke the German defenses in the woods. They took grievous losses crossing the open area between their own lines and the Germans set up in the woods but they fought on. Turning the tide of not just the battle of Belleau Wood but WWI. I would write the rest of the day, but like Iwo Jima or the Chosen Reservoir Belleau Wood is one of the handful of the Corps’ battles that inspires the deepest, most profound reverence.
The dead of Belleau Wood (not just Marines but soldiers too) are buried at the adjacent Aisne-Marne Cemetery but it hold special significance to the Corps. Give any jarhead the chance to pick say three cemeteries to visit to pay their respect to fallen Marines and the Corps and I’ll guarantee you Aisne-Marne would be on their list.
Given the significance of that battle, and how the cemetery was but an hour’s drive from Paris France’s President of course arrainged a special cemetery to honor those who fell in that history turning battle. Guess who couldn’t be bothered to attend? Donald FUCKING Trump. Once again, Kelly who was right there should have knocked Trump on his fat ass but didn’t.
‘
So this ole jarhead says by saying what he’s said about Trump Vance has disgraced himself and the Marine Corps. Clearly Vance has forgotten, if it ever took hold within him in in the first place what Semper Fidelis means. We were taught transferred from Latin is means Always Faithful – followed by To God, Country and Corps.’ Draft dodger Trump never had what it took be become a Marine so it’s no surprise he wouldn’t be faithful to the Corp. He professes to be a Christain but we all know he isn’t. So he’s not faithful to god. And he’s sure as hell not faithful to this country.
Donald Trump is faithful to Donald Trump. Period. Nothing and no one else. AND he expects, even DEMANDS that everyone else be faithful to him and ONLY him. Period. J.D. Vance earned the right to wear the Eagle, Globe & Anchor that’s the emblem of my Marine Corps. As far as I’m concerned he’s forfeited that right. If he had any sense of shame or honor he’d dig out the original set of those emblems from his first dress uniform (assuming he didn’t discard them as unimportant) he’d mail them to the Commandant of the Marine Corps with an apology. And a promise to never embarrass the Corps again by refusing to cite having been part of it!
I knew true “shitbirds” (a jarhead term and it means even worse than it sounds) I have more respect for than J.D. Vance.
Denis…HEAR HEAR!!! Someday this phucking country may wake up to the unbelievable heroism displayed in battles across time and STOP TOLERATING TRAITORS, COWARDS, AND LIARS. I have no idea how that could happen when the fat and comfortable recipients of freedom bought by blood worry about getting laid, new phones, how to climb to riches, etc. It will take a phucking miracle, and THAT is why we’re facing the ending of democracy in America, and global extinction. JD and trump are the pustules of a sick society with the wrong values. Oh, and let’s blame God/Jesus/ Mohammed/ Buddha/ Democrats/Hippies/Black people/ Brown people/ Asians/ DRUGS/ any goddamn thing that says WE’RE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DECISIONS WE MAKE. If HELL exist in the afterlife, and I know from personal experience there is an evil supernatural darkness with entities that are evil, then it must be a densely populated place. I remember a saying of Jesus recorded in the gospels that the road to HELL is wide, whereas the road to righteousness is narrow. Sounds about right. Oh by the way assholes…there are no tablets or cellphones in HELL. FYI. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!
In a way Donald is ‘faithful’ – but only to the dollar.
Over here in Norn Iron, back when the currency was in pounds, shillings and pence, we had a coin called a ‘half crown’ which was 1/8 of a pound (it was also nicknamed a ‘half dollar’)
Anyway, it used to be commented on the ultra-right, born-again, even jelly ‘loyalists’ that “They are more loyal to the half crown than the crown”
“I don’t see Ohio sending him back to the Senate, and after this campaign no one will publish him except maybe the right wing book-mill houses.”
Well, Vance does have another 4 years of “service” in the Senate after being denied the VP job and I’m pretty sure that Ohioans knew exactly who/what they were voting for two years ago (especially when he got Trump’s endorsement back then) so I don’t really see him losing the job in 2028 (unless he gets primaried by someone more sensible* or President Harris’s 4 years was such a major success that the Democratic challenger manages to ride her coattails to victory).
As far as the publishing thing goes, there are plenty of “right-wing book-mill houses” out there. But, even if he can’t find material for another book (and it’s only been how long since “Fake-Hillbilly Fairytale” came out–8 years?), he can always follow Teddy Cruz into the glorious world of podcasting. I’m sure his sugar daddy, Peter Thiel, will be more than happy to finance that venture.
*Yeah, I had a tough time typing that with a straight face. I think it’s a bit of a pipe dream that Trump’s losing this election will do that much in restoring sanity to the GOP. You’ll find people claiming MAGA didn’t go far enough so Vance will likely find an even nuttier guy, claiming to be the “REAL” MAGA devotee–and more than enough GOP primary voters will either fall for that nonsense or stick with Vance the Incumbent.
