This definitely falls under the category of interesting. Jack spoke at George Mason University, and wow, he had so many ways he pointed out what’s going on with our country. This is the man who told us he found enough evidence on the insurrection that Trump could be taken to court. AND JACK WOULD WIN. He is more than credible, and oh does he know his “stuff”!!!!! Legal analyst Allison Gill, better known as Mueller, She Wrote, noted on Saturday that Smith “delivered remarks at George Mason University this week, warning of the weaponization of the Justice Department under the Trump administration.” Gill pointed out how she got the details about the low-key meeting. “Former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe, was in the audience and described to me what he heard,” she wrote. “Smith spoke about the rule of law being under attack in a way that he hasn’t seen in his lifetime, and that he’s saddened by the firing of selfless public servants, the government using its vast powers to target citizens for exercising their constitutional rights, and the loss of credibility with the courts and the people.”
Ain’t that the truth. So much has been destroyed. So much has already been lost. So much has been trampled. Sure, there are some courts that have muzzled Trump, and their decisions haven’t been overturned. Trump’s use of the Alien Enemies Act, moving troops into LA and Washington for extremely flimsy reasons, and leaving them there! That sticks in my craw, especially since they weren’t needed in the first place. But the biased Supreme Court has done nothing but help Trump. The super majority of conservatives enable Trump. They’re afraid of him, so they give him whatever he wants. We have three sane, stable people on that court. Only 3. So, back to what Jack Smith said.
“The DOJ was my home for many, many years. That home is now on fire,” Smith said, according to Gill. “He spoke at length about what a society absent the rule of law looks like. It’s a society where critics and perceived enemies are targeted in an effort to silence them. One where prosecutors are left to figure out the basis for a case after the fact. And one where friends and allies of the administration face no legal consequences.”
Sound familiar? That’s what we are being hit with right now. We have a power-hungry, dementia ridden excuse for a president. I already spoke about the rule of law. Trying to silence critics. Going after perceived enemies, or going after someone just because. But the GOP doesn’t have to worry – as long as they publicly schmooze Trump. And think about all the pieces that should belong to the other branches of the government that have been turned over to Trump. For example, Congress said Trump could do the tariffs instead of stepping up and doing the right thing and taking them back. To close:
“In a society where the rule of law is eroding, you can have a situation where if you’re a Latino citizen… you can be stopped, detained, your liberty taken because of the color of your skin. Or maybe because you were speaking Spanish… whereas we all know that if you were white, that would never happen,” Smith reportedly said.
Indeed. I would bet that if you’re white and speaking Spanish, it would be overlooked. If you have a tan and look Latino? Nah, it will be overlooked. People can still see you’re white. But people of other nationalities? Oh, no, be prepared to be grabbed at any time. ANY TIME. What have we come to?
