Here it comes, here it comes, it’s just your 19th nervous breakdown. — Rolling Stones

Uh oh, spaghettios. It looks like Jack Ciattarelli is not willing to do a Terry McAuliffe and just go quietly in the face of defeat. No, he’s following the New Republican Playbook, which is heads, we win, tails you cheated and we win.

Ciattarelli is down by 2% now and votes are still being counted. This is ominous. But I guess it’s just part of the new subnormal of politics these days.

If this top tweeter is right and this is all about mollifying the MAGA base, what that translates as is GOP candidates being held hostage by lunatic constituents and having to humor them. That is a recipe for disaster. Is that how it is and how things are going to be?

  1. I can’t reply directly to Michela but, from what I’ve read elsewhere, New Jersey allows for one party to call for a recount BUT he has to pay the ENTIRE COST if he loses so he’s caught between a rock and a hard place here.

If he wins the recount, everything’s great for him, but if he loses the recount, he is personally on the hook for the tens of thousands (or hundreds of thousands or even millions–and this *is* New Jersey so that last number is more likely) of dollars that the recount cost.

I don’t know if he can “fundraise” to offset the cost but I do imagine he’s only got a short window of time to demand a recount.

  2. I kept hearing “LEGAL” votes, over and over, I can smell a “Stolen election” coming up because of “ILLEGAL” voters, you know, the ones that don’t speak English that well? Even though NJ forces you to provide all kinds of documents to be able to vote.
