If there was a competition right now for Person In The Most Unenviable Circumstances, J.D. Vance would win hands down. He is in a bargain that makes Dr. Faustus’ situation look tame by comparison. Vance needs to defend and laud a man whom he used to compare to Adolf Hitler. That’s bad enough. But on top of it he needs to attempt to walk back his own list of faux pas as “sarcastic remarks.” That’s the problem, we just don’t get J.D.’s sense of humor. Vance made a few short appearances on both CNN and Fox News tonight. Here’s what will arouse his running mate’s ire.

Trump not only delivered rising prices, he delivered the deaths of 1.1 million Americans and a situation where you couldn’t even find a roll of toilet paper. People were sleeping in their cars at CostCo so that they could be the first in line and buy supplies. Those were some grim days. And it’s not like he didn’t know about the pandemic. He did. He was told about it in October of 2019. He, Fox News, and others decided to pretend that it was a hoax or in any event, not a big deal. By March of 2020 the charade could no longer hold and the nightmare began. Yet Trump still wants to regain the job that he botched when he had it before. And Vance, who is supposed to do the heavy lifting in the campaign, is screwing up.
Vance’s appearance on CNN tonight was not as bad as this. He responded to Pete Buttigieg’s criticism of his comment about “people with no children have no physical stake in the future,” with the comment that it was a “sarcastic remark.” Sarcasm is Vance-speak for, “I screwed up and so now I have to say it was a joke.”
The great thing about Vance, though, is that he’s the gift that keeps on giving. You can depend. as each week dawns, upon Vance screwing up something before the next week begins. 75 days to go. And Donald Trump is stuck with a VP nominee he now regrets picking and a pair of campaign managers who can’t help him. Oh, and an “ally” RFK, Jr. who basically knifed him, because Kennedy is going to drop out of the race in a few days and the way things look, a number of his supporters have broken for Kamala and it may stay that way.

And as if we couldn’t have picked better/worse.
Trump chose to go full MAGA this election, which is stupid. At least in 2016 he had the common sense (or was at least persuadable) to pick Mike Pence. Pence could play the Safe Republican Daddy role. Burgum could have done that for Trump or Rubio would have given some sense of Trump as an establishment Republican.
But I accurately predicted the choice of Vance, because Vance was “killer” on right-wing media. In any kind of normal situation he falls apart.
Let’s give a round of applause to Joe Biden. His timing was impeccable. Right after the RNC, after the choice of Vance and after Trump decided that a bloodied ear would make him the next Reagan.
I actually find it terrifyinh that he chose Vance. I mean, your analysis od pence v, Vance is on the nose. So why is he so certain he no longer needs that? Because he has MAGAs infiltrating election boards? What s happening with that which we don’t know about?
It might be quite possible that DON THE CON will make arrangements to try to have his current VP running mate, JD Vance killed before the election, instead of waiting until after the election.
Don’t you just love the use of “hang” there? I’m not even sure if Mr Lenzie realized the double meaning or not. If he did, well, bravo. If he didn’t, then bravo to the nth degree.
These inept and myopic idiots are eventually going to fall, under their own weight. That’s going to be one hell of finger pointing pyre, when it finally happens.
When Vance made a reference to Jeffrey Epstein a few days ago, it made me wonder if he WANTS to be dropped from the ticket. When he was picked, it appeared that he and Trump would coast to victory, putting Vance in a prime position to be the next GOP presidential nominee. But in the past month, he’s been subjected to relentless criticism and ridicule. He will surely be blamed if they lose, and that will kill any political ambitions he has. So let’s hope he keeps making more “mistakes.”
He hasn’t been “subjected to…”, what he’s done is “opened himself up to…”.
If everything they say has to be walked back because “It was just a joke,” how come they aren’t seen as happy and funny? They are the dimmest and glummest bunch of creeps around. Never a smile.

The only reason he picked Pence was because he was told that it would get him the Evangelical vote, and it did.
