This is another one of those times where if a screenwriter did this you would say, “Dude, noboy is that stupid. This is implausible.” But the rules of fiction and the rules of Republican politics in the Era of Trump are two totally different things. Situations arise in Trump world daily that simply could never fly in a fictional setting. Here is J.D. Vance uttering a statement that has people howling and he seems oblivious to the complete irony of the moment.
who will tell him?

Now this next clip I love. This is just normal folks listening to the Trump debate. I love their reaction. That’s the clip on the bottom left. The clip on the right is great, too. It’s Trump telling the truth for once, you don’t want to miss that.
Trump hates when people laugh at him.
The world is laughing at you DonOld. pic.twitter.com/s5o7nDVKCG

“They’re eating the dogs.” Here’s more irony. Kim Jong-Un is in a bromance with Trump, right? He eats cats and dogs. At least, cats and dogs are eaten in Korea. The last time that the Olympics was in Korea those food items could not be sold. And it is a common practice. My Marine general friend, now long gone, told me he was once at a state dinner in Korea and “chien bouille” was on the menu, which is boiled dog. Just saying.
Now the true comedy here is that Trump is very likely not a billionaire at this point. His properties are all overvalued and leveraged to the hilt. But Swift almost certainly is. But the clip that I liked, which is related to this subject, was when Trump told Fox News that Swift will suffer financially for supporting him.
Trump reacts to Taylor Swift endorsing Kamala Harris: "Well, I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better … I was not a Taylor Swift fan … she'll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace." pic.twitter.com/J9Nk56nhEB

Mrs. Mahomes is the wife of a football team owner, but she’s not a music icon nor is she a billionaire or a celebrity, so the comparison is a bit odd. But she is somebody who is “upper crust” shall we say, and who came out in favor of Trump last month. So when you’re desperate for an endorsement, you use what you’ve got.
And let’s see who’s going to “pay a price” because it won’t be Taylor Swift. She’s doing just fine and will continue to do so. But the day of reckoning is November 5 and that day has a huge price tag on it. That’s the day Trump either gets his Get Out Of Jail Free card or he is looking at at least one prison sentence (on November 26 when Judge Merchan will pronounce sentence) and possibly three others as his criminal trials grind forward.
Trump has done all this to himself. That is the tragi/comedy of all of this. If he had stayed out of politics none of this would be happening to him. This is the Peter Principle raised to galactic proportion.
When he started spouting off on the cats and dogs thing I just started cracking up. I knew then that he was finished!
From what I’ve read, TFG didn’t get into politics and expect to win. He thought he’d lose and gain name recognition to build his brand. I suspect that once he did win, the ego took over and the trap was sprung.
PS in reply to JD’s comment, is that why the campaign used fake images of Swifties in tRump tee shirts?
JD…a bit of news…Taylor is ultra rich because of talent. You, on the other hand, along with orangebob shitpants, were GIVEN the money. Taylor isn’t losing sleep. It’s your wife wondering where can she go out in public without people pointing fingers, especially the middle one toward the ceiling.
There’s a misconception at work here. Brittany Mahomes, nee Matthews, is the wife of the KC Chiefs quarterback – the Hunt family owns the Chiefs. Ms. Mahomes is co-owner of a women’s soccer team.
