This is going to get heated before it’s all over, I predict. You recall how a few days ago Ivanka Trump was subpoenaed to appear at her father’s New York fraud trial and she refused to merely comply and did a Motion To Quash said subpoena. Yesterday Letitia James filed an opposition to Ivanka’s motion and this is after legal experts had said that basically Ivanka didn’t stand a chance of evading testimony as a fact witness.
“Ms. Trump was served properly at the New York addresses and actual place of business of multiple entities that are under her control; she should be compelled to testify in this proceeding,” James wrote. “But even beyond that, Ms. Trump remains financially and professionally intertwined with the Trump Organization and other Defendants and can be called as a person still under their control.”
“Finally, Ms. Trump has been and remains a litigant in the OAG’s concurrent, still active, special proceeding, and appeared in and litigated this action without contesting personal jurisdiction,” the motion added. “These are sufficient, ample bases to compel Ms. Trump’s testimony.”
Now in the real world motions and oppositions can go back and forth, but again, legal experts are unified in the opinion that after the procedural mickey mouse is complied with, Ivanka will have to get on a plane and go to the New York trial. All she’s really doing here is making herself look bad and ginning up negative publicity. That is counter productive in her case, because Ivanka’s goal is to be the saintly Trump, (yes, I know that’s an oxymoron) and let her brothers look foolish.
She wants to distance herself and appear squeaky clean and uninvolved in anything that is less than perfect, let alone out and out crooked. Ergo, for her to dig her heels in and refuse to testify without being compelled to do so, has a tendency to make her look guilty of something. If she truly was squeaky clean, why not just show up and give the people of New York State that which their attorney general has lawfully asked for and be done with it?
What Ivanka is really doing, in my opinion, is stalling because she knows things are going to get ugly once she’s actually on the witness stand in court.
Her father has done everything humanly possible to get this trial to go away, including staging a Perry Mason moment yesterday, when the idea was to get Michael Cohen to admit that he lied, in essence, and then after this “A ha!” moment, ask the judge for a directed verdict. The A ha! moment came and went and when Trump’s lawyer asked Judge Engoron for a directed verdict he said, no way, not with all this evidence.
That prompted Trumpty Dumpty to spring to his feet and rage out the door, with the Secret Service chasing him, because he was so angry that things didn’t work out the way he’d planned.
A large part of Trump’s elaborate scheming is due, again, in my opinion, to the fact that he doesn’t want his golden girl daughter to get up on the stand and reveal 1) she’s not so golden, tarnished brass is more like it and 2) her father is a crook.
But it looks like that’s how it’s going to come down at the end of the day. I guess Ivanka never learned that the best way to deal with something unpleasant is just to bite the bullet and go ahead and face it. Procrastination has never made anything get better, only worse. But then again, it’s understandable that Ivanka has approximately the same acquaintance with accountability as her father does, which is to say zero.
There are vague rumors Jared has spoken to John Smith, in a limited capacity. Like Meadows has, keep your hold cards to trade later.

Ivanka is in a no win situation of her own construct. They made serious Jack while serving our country. She’s a Trump, she’ll protect the money over truth and honesty. the irony to me is Don Jr. probably walks away from the upcoming Train Wreck untouched, just a lot poorer.
And single.
Seems I remember a news story a while back about their property in Panama, that she was in charge of. It was another money laundering operation and when the government of Panama raided their office, they found them shredding documents. Rich bitches don’t have to pay for their crimes! Get with the program judge.
Potentially Don Don is going to get worked over, in more ways than one – furthering and securing the very public display of his deterioration.
