I feel like Captain Ahab out on the deck of the Pequod, scanning the horizon, looking for the plume of the white whale. Mark Meadows is the white whale we are waiting for. He’s the linchpin to what happened January 6 — and before — and he’s the one who can take Donald Trump down.
NYU law school professor Ryan Goodman says that Meadows is the one “with all the keys” to what the Department of Justice needs. He also says that Meadows has a “great deal of criminal exposure” and if the DOJ subpoenas him, that could well herald the fact that they’ve made a deal with him and “immunized” him.
You know my mantra: Mark Meadows is not going to go to prison for Donald Trump.
Meadows has no spine. That was made clear when Rudy Giuliani first came up with the idea of Trump saying he had won. Meadows initially opposed it, saying that “it was irresponsible” (that’s putting it mildly) but then he caved. If/when he testifies, I suspect that there will be a whole slate of occasions revealed of him caving.
You well remember Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony of how Pat Cipollone ran into Meadows’ office and wanted him to do something and Meadows sat there, seemingly in a stupor.
Events got away from Meadows early on. It will be terrific if we have an opportunity to hear him recount the details of how. And those details will bar-b-que Trump. Plus, the light that Meadows could shed on Ginni Thomas’ treasonous actions would also be most welcome.
Meadows’ memoir was a complete joke but his DOJ testimony could tell the real story. If there is one witness that we need to hear from, it’s Meadows, hands down.
Meadows isn’t all that sharp, or he wouldn’t have signed up with the former guy in the first place. I wonder what he was promised in return.
Cassidy Hutchinson cooperating with DOJ means they have enough on Meadows to put him away for at least 20 years. He needs to dump his current T-rump paid attorney and find one who knows how to make a deal. I wonder if Meadows has enough functioning brain cells to comprehend that if he wants to limit his jail time, he needs to start spilling the tea pronto.
