I’ll bet you already know what this is about, but you might not. We start with an executive order. Then we have a bill passed. Now it’s waiting to be signed by DonOld. People are afraid and have been afraid for weeks, if not months. People of all ages and sizes. Families or singles. Just by being who they are and what they are. This is about immigrants and they are being threatened. And it just keeps snowballing.
We start with the executive order to close the border. Anyone and everyone is on hold, including the now-defunct CBP program. So now they are waiting and waiting and waiting. Who knows when they might get to apply again? And it has to have been wrecking to the people who had appointments for that day. To have to have been so close and have it suddenly be ripped away is just heartbreaking to read about, let alone be the person it happened to.
Additional executive actions are (from CNN) The Trump administration has moved with lightning speed to roll out the president’s immigration agenda, effectively closing off the US southern border to asylum seekers, severely limiting who’s eligible to enter the United States and laying the groundwork to swiftly deport migrants already in the country.
Within hours of taking office, President Donald Trump signed a spate of executive actions that have already had wide-ranging impacts for people both inside and outside the US. By Wednesday, incoming refugee flights were canceled, troops were moving to the border, federal authorities were given permission to arrest people in or near schools and churches, and the pool of undocumented immigrants eligible for quick deportation without a judicial hearing was expanded. And it gets worse. He has named cartels and criminal groups as terrorists so he can invoke the Alien Enemies Act to remove them and call on border security. This could get very interesting if there are any clashes at the border.
I’m a citizen and this frightens ME! Actually, there’s far more than I thought there was. The immigration program is more far-reaching than I thought it was. Embarrassing! And now we have troops moving to the border, as stated above, about 1500, and planes being arranged to fly people back to their home country. They have military vehicles coming in for different purposes. No help of any kind, anywhere. And watch yourself if you try to help quietly in the background. There could be bad things happening to you if you get caught.
I wonder how long it took the Mango Mandarin team to plan this. Did they start when he “won” the Republican nomination? Were they planning it for just that long just in case he *did* win? That’s a disturbing image. That’s a REALLY disturbing thought. He/they were far too prepared with executive orders that were bigger than anticipated. As I said, I had no idea and I’m embarrassed. So I’m going to do some research so that I don’t feel quite so uneducated about what the hell is happening to a large part of the country, and a large part of the border. They can arrest people in churches and in schools. Nowhere is safe, nowhere. I have no more words. (However, just for you, bonus points if you know the movie that I used for the header.)

Susan, many if us have been aware of PROJECT 2025 since the summer of 2024. It has been well publicized. These EOs are simply the paperwork to support their plans, you know – those plans they’ve been working on for 40 years. Your credibility as a reporter is quite seriously impacted by saying you “had no idea.” For this ‘site, which I have been following for as long as it has been here, and even from before when Murf and Ursula were over on kos, to include paragraphs like this is very disappointing. You folks of all people should darned well know.
I wanted to take the time to reply to your comment and not just have some throwaway response.
I am aware of Project 2025. We have the file and I have been reading it but only a little bit at a time. So there are things further in that I have not gotten to yet. I have only been here a very short time so I felt it better to say I don’t know than to BS something and hope it’s right. There is a great deal of information on the whole immigration mess out there to sort through. Yes, we should know. I agree. I am the one who doesn’t know, at least not yet.

There is??!!!! I shall need to find it! “My” readers are important to me. I want to do as well as possible but that doesn’t mean BSing through a piece. I generally do the factual part first and then finish with feelings, so to speak. Again, I’d rather say “I don’t know” and I need to do more to be unbiased. Navajo tribal.leaders say they have been detaining tribal members ( I guess brownskinned people all look.alike to.ICE and Trump). I wouldn’t out it past Donnie Donuts to refuse to recognize Native Americans as citizens. Oops, dude,,you’ll have to have the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924 repealed.
