I just searched through a couple of news websites and only found a brief article about the No Kings protests, to my surprise. Apparently, with tRump’s vanity parade going on “RAIN OR SHINE”, no one wants to say anything. That’s just pitiful. These protests are BIG. The news doesn’t think so. Is this another sign of how the Cheeto Prophet has everyone under his thumb”?
From the BBC, of all places, here’s some coverage. I guess since they live across the pond, they’re not concerned about what Agent Orange might say or do. I’m glad *someone* can give us some news that is NOT about the ego-boo stupid, ridiculous, costing the *taxpayers* $45 million dollars, vanity parade. There are quite a few things that he needs to acknowledge and speak on, but no. He’s ignoring everything and everyone for the parade. Good grief!
I think you folks could say I’m irked. The PRESIDENT of the United States is ignoring things like, uhm, Democrats getting killed and injured by a damn ASSASSIN. WTF. And I’ll say it again … WTF. They found a list of all the other people he was intending to kill. This list is Not. Small. The US news is covering that, at least. But, back up to the Beeb, here’s some news:
Thousands of people have gathered in cities across the US to join protests against President Donald Trump, hours ahead of his military parade in Washington, DC. The demonstrations organised by a group called “No Kings” were billed as a nationwide day of defiance of his policies. Lawmakers, union leaders, and activists gave speeches in cities like New York, Philadelphia, and Houston to crowds waving American flags and signs critical of Trump.
The military parade, scheduled for Saturday evening, is timed to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the US Army, and it is also Trump’s birthday. He has warned that protesters who demonstrate at the military parade would be “met with very big force”.
Some politicians and former military leaders have criticised the event as a politicisation of the US military.
Gee, ya think? I happen to agree. This parade is supposed to be showing (I’ll say it out loud) El Presidente Imbécil’s power and control of this country. He is saying, without *actually* saying, that the military obeys HIM and he can send it where he wants to! Look at what happened in LA!! He sends the National Guard in, completely unprepared, mind you, to “help” with both ICE raids and the protests. *Now* the actions of the protestors *are* getting violent!
Lawd have mercy, I’ve wound myself up on this. I’ve been fuming about the stupid parade since it first came out that Agent Orange was doing this for his birthday, and not actually for the Army’s 250th birthday! What a d*mn insult this is. We all know it has nothing to do with the Army’s birthday except for a few words here and there. I wish someone had been able to talk him out of it. By the way, a lot of Congress members are NOT going to the parade.
We could not find our protest. I’m bummed. It seems that the Square (i.e, the usual place) is doing something for Juneteenth. That’s cool, I can deal with that. But we couldn’t find our protest, d*ammit. Also, good thing we didn’t try to go to the one downtown. Last we heard, tear gas was being used. I can’t get away from that very fast. So yuck, oof, d*mn, and *sigh* Now, onward to more from the Beeb:
They were largely peaceful, but some became violent, with cars set on fire. Trump sent in the state’s National Guard contingent against the wishes of Governor Gavin Newsom. “Given what has been happening over the last week, and not just in Los Angeles, but in cities throughout the country, that’s added in a whole other layer of concern,” Mayor Karen Bass said.
The “No Kings” group takes its name from a criticism that Trump has overstepped the limits of presidential power in his second term. His early slate of executive orders, mass firings of federal workers, and sudden deportations have been met with hundreds of lawsuits, alleging the administration had violated the US Constitution and various laws and procedures.
And one last thing, well, two actually – I had missed the CNN coverage of the protests (I’m not starting over y’all and I swear it wasn’t there before), and the BBC has one more thing to say:
Demonstrations in the state of Minnesota were cancelled after attacks on two state lawmakers on Saturday. One lawmaker was killed, along with her husband, and another was injured in the shootings.
*Overseas* paid attention to this. Our monster, tRump, is ignoring it. That’s sad, really sad. I’d say any other president would have noticed this and said *something*. But ours? The guy who thinks he’s a King? Nahhhhh. It’s Democrats, so he’s almost certainly blowing it off just because of that part. No Kings, everyone, No Kings. Thanks for sticking with me!
