I’m not doing a victory lap here, I just want to present a reasonable parallel. Even before the polls closed, and the votes were counted, Trump was already bleating like a sheep that if he lost the election, the only possible reason was that the election was stolen from him by massive mail in and absentee voter fraud! The Big Lie. Which he has continued to hammer home for more than a year.
A few years ago, my beloved KC Chiefs won the Super Bowl by overwhelming the San francisco 49er’s in the fourth quarter. It was a bitter loss for San Francisco, which led handily going into the 4th quarter. But how well do you think the football fans of San Francisco would have taken it, and for how long, if the coach and general manager had come out and screamed that they had been jobbed by lousy officiating in the fourth quarter? Do you think that the majority of 49er’s fans would be sitting there three years later, screaming that they were the legitimate Super Bowl champions? Don’t be ridiculous.
But that’s pretty much all Trump has been doing for two years now. And he’s been dragging the rest of the GOP down into the same losing rabbit hole with him. Last weekend, he made a road trip from Florida to Georgia, in order to whip up enthusiasm by spouting off the same old, stale shit. Only it appears that that didn’t go off quite so well.
According to a local Georgia reporter who had been covering Trump since 2016, it was the smallest crowd he had ever seen in a rally. MSNBC showed viero of large swaths of empty seats in the venue, and then went on to show myriads of Trump supporters heading for the exit in the middle of his speech. This is not footage that you would see on FUX News.
Trump’s. Shit. Is.Wearing. Thin. As I said previously, how long could San Francisco fans carry a white hot outrage before they had to start paying the rent, the car payment, going to work? Trump has been pulling this shit for almost 2 years now. But it’s not the same world anymore! Trump insists on backing Vladimir Putin, calling him a genius, while Putin currently has a 6% popularity rating in the US, and he’s dragging the rest of the GOP down with him. Talk about doing more harm than good. Don’t touch that dial.

Sorry, but the sports reference falls short. I am a Houston Astros fan and clearly they violated the rules to win a world series.. We are still hearing about it. Even though other teams like the red sox and yankees have used similar sign stealing. maybe this year it starts to die down, but people take a long time to forget.
