Netanyahu, being the dickish a-hole he is probably looked at all Trump’s getting away with and got jealous. He already has gone to extraordinary lengths to screw over ordinary folks in Gaza. That of course is a huge topic in and of itself but let’s focus on how hard Bibi has fought to keep even humanitarian aid from getting to people suffering in the Gaza strip. An aid flotilla was stopped in international waters, contact has been lost with those on the ships and Israel isn’t providing any information. Even though one of the twelve Irish citizens Israel apparently detained is the sister of the freaking President of Ireland!
Yes, according to The Independent Dr. Margaret Connolly, sister of Catherine Connolly who is President of Ireland is among those Netanyahu is holding. Somewhere. Maybe he’s gotten an advisor or two from ICE to help him with “disappearing” people? President Connolly understandably finds the incident “quite upsetting” and is concerned for her sister. Given this involved international travel and shipping crates of humanitarian aid from ports in the Med I’m quite certain Dr. Connolly had her passport and other identification with her. Israel knew damn well who it had swept up and doesn’t f**king care!
Such is the arrogance of Bibi Netanyahu. I would expect even a ‘non-apology apology’ from a butthole like him but you’d think he wouldn’t want this to become a thing. He could have declared Dr. Connolly ‘Personae Non Grata’ and put her and her fellow Irish citizens on a plane out of the country. If not home to Ireland then at least on the European continent. But he didn’t do so and doesn’t seem inclined to anytime soon, basic human decency and international law be damned. Note again the flotilla was intercepted in International waters. Not that that matters to Israel. The Liberty was in international waters back in 1967 when Israel attacked both by air and sea killing 34 Americans.
Make no mistake. What Israel has done is deny much needed help to people, most of whom NEVER wanted the Hamas govt. Netanyahu imposed on them all those years ago. And kept funding. Seizing the ships and people on board is in fact a violation of International law since it was done in International waters:
Ireland’s Deputy Premier Simon Harris was blunt – “What Israel has done is, in my view, illegal. He goes on in the article from The Independent to say:
“It is, in my view, in breach of international law, quite frankly, not even in my view, it is in breach of international law.”
Asked whether the Irish government should engage with Israel on the detention of the president’s sister, Mr Harris said: “We’re at this long enough to know that Israel doesn’t really care very much for people’s words, does it?”
He said members of government, opposition and others have criticised Israel’s actions in Gaza but “unfortunately Israel seems to ignore the condemnation of the international world”.
He goes on to say the issue should be raised at the EU level. It should also go to the U.N. although any resolution condemning it would be vetoed by the U.S. – Bibi is after all Trump’s pal. We talk about dirt Putin has on Trump but you have to wonder what, given Jeffrey Epstein’s web of criminality reached what Mossad has sitting in its files about Trump and Epstein. From where I sit he just felt like being a dick to someone and it’s not like Ireland is a major world power. He can puff up his chest over getting away with being an asshole because he’ll get away with it. I’m sure I’ll be called anti-semitic for criticizing him and Israel and Israel is good at playing that card. Look at all the millions they funneled through AIPAC to defeat Trump (and Israel) critic Thomas Massie in today’s primary.
Let’s hope Dr. Connolly and the others who were simply decent human beings trying to help people in need get released and sent home. Soon.

After all this time you cannot seriously expect “basic human decency and international law” from Netanyahou or his demonic twin, Trump.
Heard an interview of another Irish woman from another flotilla who was held for 5 days and questioned. She referred to most of the questions as being nonsensical but described being asked if she had a pet. Having said she had, she was told to go home and feed it rather than “those animals over there” i.e. the trapped citizens of Gaza.
