And there is not a damn thing he can do about it. The Pope knows *exactly* what Trump is like, since he’s the first pope from America, and he doesn’t want anything to do with him. Trump keeps trying. Pope Leo will keep saying no. Look at everything Trump has done in one year. The Pope is going to keep saying no. Trump will not get to heaven that way. Ha. With thanks to The New Republic and The Independent via Raw Story:

Pope Leo XIV rejected President Donald Trump’s invitation to join his Board of Peace with a serious response, according to reports on Wednesday. The Vatican issued a statement and declined the White House’s January request, making it clear that the leader of the Roman Catholic Church does not want to be involved with Trump’s Gaza project, The New Republic reported. The Vatican’s secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, said that the Pope expressed several concerns and “will not participate,” The Independent reported.

H0 h0 h0. Nope, Donnie isn’t getting to heaven that way. The Pope is an amazing person. But if Trump thinks he can be sweet-talked, he’d best think again. The Pope is concerned with the world, not just the Vatican or the US. He has a lot more to think about, although we would like a prayer to get Trump out of here. Well, no, actually, but allow my snark for a few brief moments. Trump is screwing himself quite well on his own.

“For us, there are … some critical issues that should be resolved,” Parolin told reporters. “One concern is that, at the international level, it should above all be the UN that manages these crises. This is one of the points on which we have insisted.” The Pope has been critical of the president and his administration. He was among several world leaders invited to participate on the board and “supervise the ceasefire in Gaza and coordinate the strip’s reconstruction following the conflict between Hamas and Israel,” according to The Independent. Trump has also said the board would address global conflicts, but some have viewed his move as an attempt to create an “alternative multilateral forum to the UN,” which Trump has long complained about.

He should have named it Trump United Nations. That would have made him happy for a bit. But he’s blatantly supporting the genocide in Gaza, and they’re going to be pushed out so that Trump and Co can do the disgusting, glitzy Trump Med type thing Trump was tossing around with Israel a while back. They’re being pushed out of their homes. What on earth do they do now? Is there even a country that will take them? Trump sure as hell won’t let them come over here. There are no answers right now. This remains a very touchy subject over here. Remember the snatch-and-grabs of people who wrote an article or held up a sign? The ones Trump tried to disappear? Yes. That. It’s why we’re moving along from there. It’s touchy no matter what you believe about the situation overseas.

The Pope has disagreed with Trump’s move. In September, he made a subtle comment calling out the president, saying, “Someone who says ‘I am against abortion, but I am in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants in the United States,’ I don’t know if that’s pro-life.” And in November, the Pope, who is also the first American-born Vatican leader, went into further detail in his criticism. “I think we have to look for ways of treating people humanely, treating people with the dignity that they have.

If people are in the United States illegally, there are ways to treat that. There are courts, there’s a system of justice,” the Pope said. “But when people are living good lives, and many of them for 10, 15, 20 years, to treat them in a way that is extremely disrespectful to say the least—and there’s been some violence unfortunately—I think that the bishops have been very clear in what they said,” he said. “I would just invite all people in the United States to listen to them.”

We agree. The immigration bit has gotten overblown, mostly thanks to Stephen Miller and Krispi Gnome. DHS is definitely *not* handling it well. They’re also not handling it legally. There are other ways to arrest/detain people that don’t include beating them half to death, if they don’t kill them outright. There’s a lot more we can’t have seen because these hoodlums are everywhere. We continue to do what we can. Again, Pope Leo is telling Trump he knows *exactly* what he is like. And Trump looks very, very bad. We can get behind that.

Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
