There is much truth in humor and the fact that Trump, as the older animal in the presidential contest, is now about to be consumed by the younger, stronger creature, has been set to music and verse. We have collectively learned a few important lessons as a culture in America the past several years. One is that people age at different rates and perhaps age limits should be placed upon presidents. Another, in Trump’s case specifically, is that an unqualified candidate is not like fine wine that improves with age. Biden aged but Trump has further deteriorated and there is a difference. Trump never was suited to the job as president and has only become glaringly more so.
I love the part here about “his mate and his cubs have deserted him.” That will get coffee pots and ketchup bottles flying. I can see it now, he’ll scrunch up his face, like at the assassination attempt, and start flinging things, because after all, he is Impotus Americanus, and all he can do is impotent, futile gestures.
On the other side of the aisle, Kamala Harris is talking about appointing a Republican to her cabinet, in a gesture of a return to a saner, more bi-partisan climate. This in the face of Trump’s Project 2025. Point being, the contrast between the two candidates has become even starker still. Harris seeks to bring America together, Trump would gut the Civil Service, become “dictator for a day” and then we would be off to the races. He can deny knowledge of Project 2025 but he cannot deny the fact that its authors are all members of his former administration. That does tend to be somewhat incriminating on a common sense level, and Trump brays how he is the common sense candidate.
This race isn’t about defeating a Republican. This race is about restoring equilibrium to politics. Trump has been an unsettling and divisive force the past nine years and he has spawned the likes of Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Madison Cawthorn, Tommy Tuberville and other wretched people who do not belong in politics.
For the good of all Americans, MAGA is a cultural cancer which needs to go into remission and sanity needs to be restored and be a healing balm to us all. We have all been through the wringer since Trump descended the escalator in 2015, cheered on by paid extras and accompanied by his wife in name only. Since that day we’ve all been unpaid extras in a reality TV extravaganza which we never signed up for and never knowingly would, considering the price that we’ve collectively paid.
I’ll tell you one other thought that has occurred to me: I think Trump is going to be the last Republican president. I firmly believe that some new party is going to rise and the GOP will be remembered as the party that started with Abraham Lincoln, as they love to tout, and ended with the reality TV bozo. Quite a devolution. It beggars description.

This is not a political campaign. In the past, even bull-in-a-china-shop Trump had “talking points” that were clearly decided each day and we all got bored hearing the same crap from each person. Now, every spox and campaign official is just having a blast throwing out “jokes” and nasty comments in every direction as though it’s a “how low can you go?” competition! Campaigns have meetings about how to get votes from specific demographics. Trump and Vance already have the base, although it appears even that is shrinking, so a campaign should try to find other voters. But just one example, Arlington, shows disrespect for potential pockets of voters in every direction. Spokesman Steven Cheung degrades the cemetery official, women, military families, and people who have actual mental health struggles all at the same time! Campaign co-chair, Chris LaCivita, puts out a new illegal video this morning with the message that he just wanted to “trigger the @SecArmy hacks!” What voters did they gain with these punches? Have they given up and are just enjoying their last ride? Are they so confident in SCOTUS, vote disruptions and insurrectionists that know November 5 is irrelevant and the future is already here? They have a playbook for 2025…where’s the one for right now? Don’t get me wrong, I like that voters are moving away from these guys, but I wonder if there is anyone even trying anymore!
If the magats/’pubes are not cleaned out of the legislatures in red states, we will not be rid of the cancer killing our nation. This isn’t one of those “get most of it” excisions, it must be as total as possible. Without doing this our nation will be in danger of being completely and utterly toppled by those hell-bent on destroying it and replacing our constitutional republic with a taliban-esque shit hole country.
Harris and Walz are used to dealing with people, and what might enrich them.
