I’m Serious. Are We Witnessing the Death Of MAGA Before Our Very Eyes?

Look, don’t give me a ration of sh*t here. Take a minute, read the article, think about it for a minute, and then give me a ration of sh*t in the comments.

Question: What’s the difference between a dictator and a wanna be dictator? Answer: Dictators do it first, and then unveil it. Wannabees shoot their mouths off and let people put up resistance. Dictators get into power under a veneer of democracy, subvert and replace standing government institutions, then come out and drop the hammer. Imbeciles like Trump brag about what they’ll do if they get power, and give people the opportunity to deny them power in the first place.

As I’ve written, and as others are also starting to posit, the long running Trump reality show, The Apprentice: White House Edition finally seems to be wheezing its way across the final finish line. The one-trick-pony can’t remember the goddamn trick anymire, and people are tired of it anyway.

One of the more popular fearmongering dire predictions has been that Trumpism will long outlast Trump himself. The logic being that Traitor Tot had created a movement that would continue on long after he was gone.

But as the great Tommy Lee Jones explained in Under Siege, The problem with a movement is that it’s exactly that. It moves forward a certain distance, and then it stops. A revolution has a way of keeping coming back around in your face! Truer words.

But there are different kinds of movements. MLK didn’t create the racial equality movement, but his courage, grace and charisma turned it into something more. And just like before King, when he was gone, others took up the mantle and carried the torch to new heights.

But that was a noble cause for a greater purpose. Trumpism is none of that. Trumpism is nothing more than a cheap, opportunistic political construct based on, and for the benefit of male white grievance. That’s not a movement. You want to know what Trumpism is? It’s the practical political equivalent of an incel bitching board, a bunch of out of shape, smelly slobs sitting in their mothers basements wondering why they can’t get laid.

To my mind, there are two things that helped to hasten the demise of Trumpism to the point that it won’t likely survive him. And when you look at them one at a time, and realize the impact of them, it becomes easier to see why Trumpism can’t survive.

The first was the Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade. The GOP had been promising for 50 years that they would overturn it if they ever got a favotable Supreme Court. And Trump not only personally set up that court, he openly gabbed about bringing it about.

He should have left well enough alone. The GOP f*cked this one sideways, and never even understood what they were toying with. The male chauvinists in the GOP were seeking to curry favor with their Evangelical base, and branded it as nothing more that the right to life for unborn babies. And after 50 years, they actually convinced themselves that this pandering construct was true.

Nothing could be further from the truth. It has never been about abortion! It has always been about the issue of a woman’s autonomy over her own body, and her choice as to reproduction. They always treated the issue as a political football, and that’s how they still see it.

And now they can’t understand why the whole goddamned house is burning down around their ears. To them, it was never about the women, it was about the politics. And now the stupid sh*ts can’t understand why even deep red states are passing pro choice ballot initiatives to enshrine abortion rights into state constitutions.

And they still don’t get it. In an interview tonight on FUX News with Cruella de Ingraham, responding to a question about suburban women falling pray to the propaganda that abortion was a national issue rather than a states issue, the Hillbilly Imbecile replied, Laura, I don’t think that most suburban women are fixated on the abortion issue. I think they’re more worried about raising their children and putting food on the table. News Alert! It isn’t about abortion you f*cking moron, it’s about bodily autonomy and personal choice. But after 50 long years, all of these misfit toys look at it the same way.

The second dynamite charge in MAGA is of course, Project 2025. This is a 900+ page blueprint to turn the United States into a White Christian right wing autocracy. Polling is showing that it’s kryptonite to Trump and the GOP, which is why they’re running from it like a clowder of scalded kittens. But the simple fact is that there is nothing in there that Trump and his MAGAts haven’t been preaching for years to their far right racist base.

And that’s the reason I believe that Trumpism can’t survive Trump. The Trump MAGA base, not only in the U.S. congress, but also in state legislatures have spent the last eight years ceaselessly parroting Trump’s filth, abortion as well as the more racist rants of Project 2025. They are all birds of the same feather.

Which begs the question. If Trump goes down in November, it will be because of a combination of a rotted ideology, disrespect of women’s bodily autonomy rights, and the crypto far right White Nationalist Evangelical Project 2025. And if he goes down in November, just what do MAGAts, nationally as well as in the states have to sell? They’ve been pushing Trump’s same lame sh*t for eight long years, and after November, they won’t even have a charismatic leader anymore?

A true movement needs competent, charismatic leadership to keep it going, even if the current leader falls to the wayside. But who does the current MAGA bloc have? Bratty Matty Gaetz? Machine Gun Marjie? Gym Bag Jordan, who can’t even run a congressional committee? Beggar Vance, who doesn’t stand for anything or anybody, not even himself? Just ask yourself one simple question. After Trump, who is the inspirational MAGA version of John Lewis to lead the movement on to the next chapter? Anybody?
