Another day in court for the GOP nominee. And he is hopping mad. His lawyer, John Sauer, tried to persuade a three-judge appellate panel in New York that it should grant an appeal in the E.J. Carroll civil rape trial, for which $5 million was awarded in damages. (Not to be confused with the defamation trial and its verdict of $83 million, which Trump also intends to appeal and overturn.) Alina Habba was also on hand as Sauer tried to argue that the case should be appealed due to the fact that other women that Donald Trump had assaulted over the years were allowed to testify. Oh, puh-leeze. Please.

Those women were allowed to testify so as to establish a pattern of behavior on Trump’s part. And THIS is their reversible error? OMG. Please believe me when I tell you that there are civil lawyers, criminal lawyers and Evidence professors howling right now, listening to this. Reuters is reporting Trump showed little emotion during the arguments, but shook his head when Carroll’s lawyer Roberta Kaplan accused him of a pattern of “chatting up” women before he “pounced” on them. Naturally, Trump had to get in front of a mic and kvetch after the three judges took the case under submission and did not announce when they would reach a decision. But if this is the best Trump’s lawyers have, I would not lose sleep if I were E.J. Carroll.

This is not a good look to have 59 days before an election — but hey, Trump’s winning it anyhow, according to him. He should have stayed out of court for this one, but he probably believed that his lawyers could produce some miracle and then he could do a great photo op saying that he had prevailed against corruption and been declared innocent. There is no world in which that could have happened, on these facts, and probably his lawyers tried to tell him that. Hence, his disappointment.

  1. Magats, your chosen candidate is insane. His dementia has reached the point where he should be in a special, assisted-living facility. He is an embarrassment to his family, any friends he might possess, and the nation. I realize this is falling upon blind eyes but it still must be brought to your attention.

His family should be ashamed of themselves putting their old, feeble, and mentally-challenged father on display for the entertainment of others. Surely that must be the purpose of all this right?
