The decision to allow Donald Trump’s former press secretary to deliver the Republican response to Joe Biden’s State of the Union address next Tuesday is reflective of the party’s utter lack of direction.
Kevin McCarthy oohed and aahed over Sarah Huckabee Sanders being the “youngest governor” in the nation. He didn’t bother to elaborate that she’s the first governor in 42 years in Arkansas without any prior governing experience. Such trifles are not important in the party of George Santos, Marge Greene, and the rest.
Charlie Sykes had a more realistic take on the matter, calling Sanders a “firehose of disinformation.” What better representative for the GOP side of things in 2023?

Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson, is considering a run for president and has said Trump winning the Republican nomination would be the “worst scenario” for the party.
Sanders, however, has said she thinks the country would be better off right now if Trump were in office.
Sanders has not proposed a specific pay hike amount though House and Senate committees have recommended $4,000 teacher raises. In his lame duck budget proposal last year, Hutchinson recommended education funding be increased by $550 million over the next two years to accommodate teacher raises.
Sanders also supports some form of school choice — parental empowerment as she puts it — to allow state money to be used for private schools or homeschooling. “Parents should be able to decide how and where their kids can best be educated,” she said.
Sanders has indicated she will follow the lead of another high-profile GOP governor, Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis, another potential presidential contender. Her pick for education secretary, Jacob Oliva, is one of the top Florida school officials.
Sanders said she would support legislation similar to a Florida law that forbids instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade. Critics, who have dubbed the ban the “Don’t Say Gay” law, have said that type of restriction marginalizes LGBTQ people.
Hucky Boo Boo is a culture warrior. Expect her rebuttal to Biden to be just that. Bread and circus.
Last year’s rebuttal was given by Iowa’s governor Kim Reynolds. That was going pretty low in the barrel but Sanders is scraping the bottom.
Bear in mind, the GOP did a major “autopsy” after the 2012 election. Now they are seemingly shrugging their shoulders and hoping for a miracle as they endorse Trump again and again and he keeps losing again and again. It’s no surprise that many GOPers are reportedly wishing for Trump’s demise. They apparently can’t quit the man and will only be free in death.
So, the ‘pube party is allowing someone who couldn’t intelligently string more than a couple of sentences together be their rebuttal rep. Well, the “butt” part will be a perfect description of what she will deliver if her past performances are anything to go by; and what better?
Home-schooling is an effective method of ensuring that children won’t ever be smarter than their parents.
SNL, if it has the guts can make one helluva skit out of this. I say if they have the guts because they could and SHOULD expand on Michelle Wolf’s theme – the thing about Sander’s eye shadow. They could whoever portrays her in prep – applying dark eye shadow from a big container labeled “ashes of liberal babies”, cheek rouge from a big container labled “powdered dried liberal’s blood” and lip gloss she hand mixes on the spot, putting some glycerin into a bowl and scooping some “blood” from a container labeled “fresh blood from a Democrat that SHOULD have been executed on Jan. 6, or if that’s too much to write on the container the character can say where the blood came from.
Oh, and for good measure and another blast from the past she can drink water with exaggerated effect from a gigantic/oversized Mason Jar labeled “liberal tears.”
Everyone should feel free to add anything else they can think of. But sadly, I doubt SNL would have the guts to do it.
