Couldn’t have happened to a “nicer” guy *cough*, but seriously, top advisors aren’t down as badly as he is. There’s a poll of several of them, and Petey Boy is looking to be the lowest of the low. Of course, we knew that. He’s been hanging on by his fingernails since SignalGate. He was the loudest of the advisors in terms of going to war with Iran, but he had no plan for the war itself. It’s surprising Trump hasn’t said anything on it yet. Trump is not one to take all the blame. With respect for Raw Story:
As President Donald Trump’s approval rating on the Iran war sits in the 20s, new polling analysis shows Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is faring even worse than his boss. CNN’s Harry Enten broke down net job approval ratings for several top Trump officials and found all of them underwater, but Hegseth stands out as “the lowest of the low.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio sits at minus-8, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at minus-9, and Vice President JD Vance at minus-17, but Hegseth trails all of them at minus-22, a figure Enten said has held true “in every single poll” he could find throughout Hegseth’s tenure. Enten noted the comparison to Rubio is notable since both are closely associated with the Iran war, yet Rubio, eyeing a potential 2028 run, has “come out smelling like roses” by comparison.
Smelling like roses. Ha. That’s a good phrase, now that we’re reminded of it. It actually says something about Rubio. He’s doing fairly well, all things considered. But Petey Boy? Not so much. His SignalGate scandals (plural, remember), his testosterone, his firings, his paranoia in the Pentagon, his calling in our military leaders from all over the world to prance about on stage and yell, and so forth- because there are many more, but they’re too numerous to continue with the list. The man has not endeared himself to anyone, with the possible exception of Trump, because he and Trump are at “WAR”.
Enten also placed Hegseth’s numbers in historical context, comparing him to Donald Rumsfeld, the defense secretary who oversaw the start of the Iraq War and was pushed to resign shortly after Republicans suffered heavy losses in the 2006 midterms. At a similar point before midterm elections, Rumsfeld’s net popularity was minus 7 — still 15 points better than Hegseth’s current standing, making Hegseth’s numbers “historically low” for a wartime defense secretary. “Why is this comparison in my mind so much? It’s because, remember, Don Rumsfeld was essentially forced to resign after those midterm elections, after Republicans got crushed,” Enten said.
Well, now, isn’t that interesting? Is it possible that Hegseth will have to resign? There would be a lot of celebration, if so. He never should have been in that position in the first place, yet this goes back to a question we’ve asked about similar firings before. Will his replacement be worse? Mullin is worse than Noem. Blanche is worse than Bondi. Whoever possibly might be in that position could almost definitely be worse. It’s unnerving to contemplate. This does not give us warm, fuzzy feelings of confidence.
“Donald Trump has been defending Pete Hegseth. But I have to ask the question: for how long?” Enten asked. While Hegseth currently retains his position, Enten suggested that could change depending on how the midterms unfold, drawing a parallel to Rumsfeld’s post-midterm ouster. “There are definitely red lights flashing in the polls when it comes to Pete Hegseth’s job security,” said CNN’s John Berman, reacting to Enten’s analysis.
BOOM. We can almost be certain that he’s going to have trouble after the midterms, even though he has nothing to do with voting and everything to do with the Iran War debacle. If we don’t get out of there soon, there will be hell to pay. The country is tired of being in a war with no reason. The country is tired of a war we essentially lost. And now, because of Trump’s Truth Social posts and flapping his gums, Iran has no interest in coming to the negotiation table. But Petey Boy is just as responsible as Trump. People seem to forget that Trump is always yapping about the war, and Hegseth has been noticeably quiet for months. It’s funny how that happens when you embarrass yourself and your country. It’s funny how that happens when you lose. This is something to watch.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

Rubio smelling like roses? I’d say like Trump instead of roses the appropriate flower would be amorphophallus titanum, better known as the Corpse Flower. Yes, it’s a real flowering plant and gives off the scent of rotting flesh, hence the name it’s known by you can type Corpse Flower into your search engine to learn about this remarkable plant.
