We shouldn’t ask “what is this world coming to”? when it still has Trump and his ‘cabinet’ in it. DHS has come up with a new grift, and we need another word besides repulsive. It’s unbelievable, except it’s real. Who comes up with these inane and insane ideas? It doesn’t appear to be anyone with any intellect. With appreciation to Raw Story:
The Department of Homeland Security made a pitch for inexpensive housing that was instantly ridiculed by political observers. Homeland Security took to X ahead of the weekend, writing, “Want affordable housing? Help report illegal aliens in your area. Call 866-DHS-2-ICE.” The post added, “If you are an illegal alien, you can take control of your departure using http://DHS.GOV/CBPHOME.”
Whaaaaaat? Turn in a neighbor and take their home. What kind of foolery *is* this? The people who would do this don’t need homes because they’re already in ICE and CBP. We can be sure housing is provided. This is revolting. We can guess that the majority of the US would do quite the opposite. Neighbors are people, not facts and figures.
Immigration expert Aaron Reichlin-Melnick said, “‘Report your neighbors for purging and then take, you can take their houses’ is an official government message of the Trump admin.” //// Independent journalist Aaron Rupar called it “straight up Gestapo s—“. //// Congressional candidate Eric Garcia chimed in, “Literally, some nazi s—.”
Are we sure Bozo-ino isn’t still around? Or has Stephen Miller started yapping again? Because yes, sounds Gestapo Nazi level stupid. Miller ought to know better since he’s Jewish (NO insult intended to anyone) and his people were persecuted, but still, Stephen Miller. It’s right up his alley, and we will not follow him up it. Our families were all immigrants at some point, and this is ridiculous.
Activist Perry Cavalari said, “The way our country has been literally taken over by an openly Nazi administration is crazy, and the best our ‘opposition’ party ( @HouseDemocrats @SenateDems ) can do is write letters and suggest weak rules over how they can implement their terror.” //// Senator Scott Wiener weighed in, “Trump’s housing affordability plan is to deport your neighbors & collapse the workforce. This is some real decel s—.” //// Former ambassador Steven Pifer added, “Nazi Germany and Soviet Union worked hard to build a nation of people who would inform on their neighbors.”
Scorch! It seems that some people are unhappy with the state of affairs for smart people in this country. If We the People can protest, one would think we would have better leadership. There aren’t any easy answers. There are hopes and fears and tenacity. It had better be enough.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

“Activist Perry Cavalari said, “The way our country has been literally taken over by an openly Nazi administration is crazy, and the best our ‘opposition’ party ( @HouseDemocrats @SenateDems ) can do is write letters and suggest weak rules over how they can implement their terror.””
Well, if Mr Cavalari has any WORKABLE solutions for the Democrats to use, perhaps he should divulge them to the appropriate people. Then again, I suppose that’s why he’s an “activist” rather than a member of Congress.
He might also want to get his ass back to school for some BASIC education on how government works. When you’ve got a party in the minority, there is virtually NOTHING that can be achieved in the House of Representatives and very little that can be done in the Senate. And the Democrats currently find themselves in the MINORITY in both houses of Congress.
It’s incredibly easy to play the gadfly and make all sorts of noise and complain about how the Democrats aren’t doing anything but it’s a hell of a lot more difficult for them to actually do anything more than what they’re currently doing. For them to achieve any kind of real success (that would likely appease Mr Cavalari, at any rate) would entail them managing to convince enough GOPers to break ranks with the Fascist-enablers but that is also a pretty difficult feat to achieve.
And there you laid out the problem. There isn’t much we *can* do right now. Democrats did push back hard against ICE funding and that was beautiful to see. But if they are the minority, speaking up is about all that’s possible *right now*.But they are trying!
