During a press conference in the Oval Office, President Donald Trump dismissed the new release of documents relating to convicted child predator Jeffrey Epstein as a “hoax” concocted by Democrats. His claims didn’t pass muster after two CNN hosts conducted a prompt fact-check. When a reporter asked Trump for his thoughts on the House Oversight Committee receiving a new tranche of Epstein files from the Department of Justice in response to a subpoena, the president said he was in favor of transparency but that some names in the files may not “deserve” to be there, given the size of Epstein’s rolodex.
Right. And Karo-LYIN Leavitt still owes me for that bridge. He trots out the same tired lines and thinks that because he doesn’t remember them, we don’t remember them. It’s been proven time and time again that he’s wrong, but he never remembers. Why are we letting this man remain in office when the 25th Amendment exists? Oh, right, because Republicans are cowards, and JD won’t be much, if any, better.
“I have said to [Attorney General] Pam [Bondi] and everybody else, give them everything you can give them because it’s a Democrat hoax. It’s just a hoax. The whole Epstein thing is a Democrat hoax,” he continued. “So we had the greatest six months, seven months in the history of the presidency, and the Democrats don’t know what to do. So they keep bringing up that stuff, but it affected them.” “He suggested again that this is a Democratic hoax trying to detract from his accomplishments in the first eight months or so of his administration. It was actually a campaign promise that he and others in his orbit made that they would release all these files,” Keilar added. “… Pretty creative, if it’s a Democratic hoax, for it to have started as a Trump campaign promise.”
Don’t you agree? The Democrats came up with this story for him to use that he’s in the Epstein files. Except he really isn’t. Oyyy. He’s never going to give up on this unless he’s forced. That will be a trick and a half to manage, if it can be done at all. I’d rather not have to wait until he’s out of office, in whatever fashion. Plus, does anyone *really* think Bondi will give up the files? Me neither.
As Keilar said, both Trump and Vice President JD Vance promised to release the full Epstein files on the campaign trail in 2024. However, the DOJ is reportedly sitting on roughly 100,000 pages of Epstein-related documents that have yet to see the light of day. Some of the unreleased evidence categorized by the FBI in 2019 reportedly includes a logbook of visitors to the convicted child trafficker’s “Little Saint James” Island, which housed his private compound. Another item was described as a “document with names,” which could be the rumored “client list” that Bondi has said publicly does not exist.
Trump says it’s a hoax. Bondi says he’s not in the records. Neither one of them can likely be forced to give it up. But one of these days we *will* KNOW.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that of all of the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, with the exception of one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. Just about everybody, including MAGA, believes that Trump is “in the files.” But his supporters don’t really care, and they can always scream hoax, lawfare, witch hunt, etc. if ithe truth leaks out. Like previous efforts to hold Trump accountable, the push to release the files will have very little impact on his popularity.
Rising inflation, on the other hand, will. No one wants to see another recession, but a lot of people need to he reminded that Republican policies are not good for average citizens.
The biggest current hoax is that Dementia Donny is in any way competent at anything.
Susan, do you expect us to search CNN or AlterNet to find out who Keilar is? You give us two excerpts from those sources that tell us what Keilar said. You and the excerpts never tell us Keilar’s full name or his/her occupation or position. Why should we care what Keilar says?
