I swear to God, you can’t make this shit up. Rachel Maddow’s A block tonight was a masterpiece, and stripped the GOP voter fraud nonsense down to the bone.
In response to all of the lingering kerfuffle about the 2020 election in Michigan, the GOP dominated Senate appointed a special committee, made up of 3 Republicans and 1 Democrat to take a deep dive loom into all of the claims and get to the bottom of it. And the results of the investigation, which were released today, were nothing short of mind boggling.
The special, GOP heavy committee found that every single allegation of voter fraud and voter irregularities were total bullshit. They called out Trump, they called out Giuliani, they called out the “My Pillow” moron Mike Lindell for all of their bullshit. They slammed GOP dominated counties for screaming about voter irregularities and voting machine errors. Basically they threw the entire Trump Stop the Steal argument into the campfire.
Holy shit! The Michigan establishment is actually making a move to take their party back? Maybe, but not necessarily. At the same time that they released the report, they used the specter of all of the voter uncertainty over the 2020 election results to propose 39 brand spanking new voter restriction laws for Michigan.
I’m sorry, has the Michigan GOP lost its mind? On the one hand, the committee obliterates every GOP stolen election talking point, and then immediately turns around and says that, since there are so many brain dead dead Michiganders out there, they had better restrict voting rights for other Michigan citizens in order to soothe their savaged feelings. This is nothing short of idiotic.
This is the basic problem for the GOP writ large. If you move out from the brain dead Trombies, nobody is buying the Stop The Steal nonsense Trump is peddling, certain to trigger a violent backlash from Trump. But at the same time, they look at the results of the 2020 election, read the tea leaves of an ill wind blowing at them in 2022, and so they try to jury rig a way to suppress voters, even though there was no fraud. Sweet Jesus, I’m glad that I’m not a Republican!

At one time, the goal of Fox News and other right-wing media was to promote GOP candidates. Now, their goal is to win the ratings game. There is no downside for them to push crazy, false ideas, even if it hurts the GOP at the polls. Republicans have completely surrendered to the crazies, lest they get accused of being “RINO’s.”
When was the last time you saw a Republican party platform? No ideas, none of the time, just voter suppression.
