Arrest illegals. Arrest illegals. Deport them. Deport them. They’re not allowed to see a lawyer. They essentially go incommunicado. And those left behind have no way to find them. ICE has no brakes. They can “arrest” people anywhere, any time. They send them to detention centers and fly them out in less than 24 hours, so the illegal, or not illegal, people can’t do a damn thing to prevent it. It has become the new calling card of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown: Federal officers, often masked and not wearing uniforms or displaying badges, arresting people outside courtroom hearings, during traffic stops, and in workplace sweeps.
Anyone could masquerade as an ICE agent and drag people away. I’d rather not think about what those impersonators could do. And they are arresting officials, too. We’re up to a count of 6 *that we know about*. How many others could there be? Could other officials have been arrested, and it didn’t make the news? NYC Comptroller Brad Lander (the one who got arrested while asking to see a warrant) commented that he witnessed “a deeply dehumanizing process”.
That sounds about right with what we’ve seen so far. Remember the LA protests (which seem to have calmed down) and the video of how they got started? ICE did *giant* sweeps through the neighborhood. Arresting all the workers in a restaurant was extreme. All of them. What the hell? Are they bold now because no one can or will tell them no? They are protected by Trump, so they can do whatever they want. And they do!
Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons has said federal officers are covering up to protect their families after some have been publicly identified and then harassed online, along with their relatives. “I am sorry if people are offended by them wearing masks, but I’m not going to let my officers and agents go out there and put their lives on the line, and their family on the line, because people don’t like what immigration enforcement is,” Lyons said.
There is no federal policy dictating when officers can or should cover their faces during arrests. Historically, officers have almost always concealed their faces only while performing undercover work to protect the integrity of ongoing investigations, law enforcement experts have told CNN.
Now see, that’s understandable. The problem lies in the hands of *EVERY* ICE officer. They’re covering up when they aren’t undercover. And those masks give them a *lot* more freedom to grab people. If there’s no additional information visible, they could be anyone. Oh, and did I mention the methods of the agents? They can be a brutal as they want to be. Ouch.
The problem really starts with the insane, impossible quotas that Trump demands. They have to push harder and harder to make arrests. This is the part that they *have to* follow. So, it’s a pendulum for them from basic humanity to the quotas on the other end. For all I know, arrests and methods of arrests could all go off from someone who is having a bad day and takes it out on people.
Wouldn’t it be something for Trump to go along on these raids? They could show him how crazy his numbers are. Of course, he’d be all for the massive sweeps. But his numbers are still impossible. That’s where we are. By the way, I’m looking forward to the *next* protest. Thanks for sticking with me!
