Hip, Hop, we’re on the clock. Round and round and round it goes. Where it stops, nobody knows. It’s raining it’s pouring the old man (isn’t) is snoring. Soooo looking at some things as we near the end of week 1. It’s all over the place with all the Executive Orders he takes such delight in signing. I somehow saw a picture of the piles of EOs on his desk and whoa. Stacks and stacks. I think he was having far too much fun putting his messy signature onto everything.
Week one has been pretty mixed. The thing that’s been the loudest is all the various illegal immigrant actions. ICE has been picking up people in Chicago. The Mango Mandarin has been sending people back to their home countries with no warning for those countries when the people land there. A phone call would have been nice. But he *insists* that all the people be deported and get them on a plane with no other action taken. He’s insisting on quotas to be filled (really? that’s back to my current favorite word – petty). We have to get rid of the criminals that were dumped into our country (they weren’t).
I would like to remind him that coming to the US for a new life is a major wish for immigrants. Our country will … make that would have, given them chances to start over with no fear, no gunfights, no gangs, and so on. All they can look for now is having walked hundreds of miles to be turned away, or taken back to the same place they had spent so long to try and get away from. I don’t even have any more words for this.
Then we have the gazillion orders to reverse things President Biden had done. This is not a surprise. Most of those were for little petty (my current favorite word again) things but some were bigger, such as halting DEI programs. I don’t get this one, especially since I have worked on a big project at my previous job. It was pretty amazing when we got it done. Designing a website was a blast! I just can’t see the reasoning behind this one. We have a mix of a lot of people in our country. Why not have us continue to work on them learning more about others? That could easily lead to some pretty good relationships. But no. Tear those away people. No matter how hard you’ve worked on it. It’s not the cool kid anymore.
Some of them will have legal challenges if they haven’t already. There’s been one I’ve already written about when tRump tried to end Amendment 14 – the birthright citizenship. Not gonna happen. Well, it might, but I think it’s unlikely that the Supreme Court would approve of this. There are at least 3 lawsuits against DOG-e. And there is a challenge expected for his repeal of a Biden-era order allowing transgender troops to serve openly in the military.
So here we are at the end of week 1 and it’s only going to get more *cough* interesting from here. All it does is make us look even more stupid. And the world laughs harder.
