If you think you can’t be any more embarrassed to have Donald Trump in the White House than you are today, I’m here to tell you you’re wrong. Take a look at the “official” correspondence going out from the White House to heads of state and you’ll realize just how profoundly stupid we look. It’s a tragedy, too. Even routine correspondence from the White House was perfectly and professionally done. I got a letter myself from Bill Clinton, in response to a letter I had written supporting some action he was taking with respect to student loans. The stationery itself is high grade, the printing is beautiful and the basic thank you note I got was flawless (and signed with an autopen, in a day when that was not labeled criminal behavior.)

In short, I got a much more professional communique from the then-president of this country then the Prime Minister of Japan got today from the current president. Timing is everything in life. You will see the ludicrous initial caps that Trump somehow believes are profound and statesmanlike, when all they are is superfluous and amateur looking.

Click into the tweet if you want to read his entire idiotic diatribe. The part I find most cringeworthy is where he says that the Trade Deficit is a threat to National Security. How to tell the Japanese Prime Minister that you’re clueless without telling him you’re clueless.

So now we wait to see what the return punch is. That’s a posture that we occupy commonly and collectively these days, waiting for the return punch, whether military or economic.

Do not be surprised when the stock market starts doing flip flops. That’s usually the first reaction to one of Trump’s stupid moves. Then the Wall Street Journal editorial board will attempt to explain to Trump after the fact why what he did was so stupid — as if he listens to them or anybody.

  1. George Carlin explained our situation years ago very clearly: the rules are as follows; the rich keep all the money and pay no taxes; the middle class keep no money and work shit jobs to pay all the taxes; the poor are there to scare the shit out of the middle class so they show up for work. Questions?

  2. He’s wrecking decades of diplomacy and trust, so he can have the upper hand in the situation.
Remember his comment that the countries were all wanting to “kiss his a$$”? Someone made a comment that the tariffs are not about economics so much as it is power and control. Makes sense to me.

  3. The surreal nature of all his braggadocio is what always strikes me since he’s such an inept buffoon. Then there’s the fact that he thinks diplomacy is best accomplished by shoving his mushroom into the faces of other world leaders, to which they respond, looks like a penis only smaller.
