HAHA! Trump Just Knifed McCarthy, Blames His Problems On McConnell

This is rich. If this was a production of Dr. Faustus, today would be the day when the protagonist finally realizes that he sold his soul to Satan and to no purpose. That is Kevin McCarthy’s realization. McCarthy threw it all away. He actually showed some leadership on January 6. He stood up for what was right. And all that evaporated.

He had to make the pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago to kiss the ring of Mango Mussolini. He thought that the benediction of Trump would give him everything he needed. He sealed the deal with a kiss.

But unfortunately, dealing with Trump is the kiss of death — at least if you’re a politician. His batting average is not so good, despite the fact that he peacocked on Truth Social about how many political careers he has “made” and how many he has “broken.” The majority of the people in the made column were incumbents in deep red states and the majority of the broken were retirees.

A couple of weeks ago, Trump said this according to Raw Story:

“Look, I think this: Kevin has worked very hard. I think he deserves the shot,” said Trump in a mid-December interview with the far-right outlet Breitbart News. “Hopefully he’s going to be very strong and going to be very good and he’s going to do what everybody wants.” He compared the situation to Republicans’ leadership fight in 2015, when McCarthy was similarly passed over after then-Speaker John Boehner resigned. “It’s a very dangerous game. Some bad things could happen. Look, we had Boehner and he was a strange person but we ended up with Paul Ryan who was ten times worse.”

Boehner is not even remotely strange when you stack him up against Paul Gosar, Marjorie Taylor Greene and others we could mention.

In any event, that was then and this is now.

“Former President Trump declined to say if he’s sticking by his endorsement of Kevin McCarthy for speaker tonight, telling me in a brief phone interview he’s had calls all day asking for support, and ‘We’ll see what happens. We’ll see how it all works out,'” reported [NBC News report Garrett] Haake. “When I asked directly if he was sticking by McCarthy, who did not clinch the gavel today after three floor votes, Mr. Trump told me ‘we’ll see what happens,’ and ended our conversation.”

This just popped up on Truth Social. Trump can’t deal with the fact that he’s the one who tanked the GOP — with loads of help from them, never forget — and so he’s blaming McConnell. and his wife.

We often wonder, those of us who religiously read Trump’s posts, if they are authored by him. This one definitely was. There’s the spelling error, “do” instead of “due” and I wonder why the quotation marks around “wife?” What’s that about? Mitch and Elaine are shacked up?

I hope the GOP likes their monster, now. He is their creation. They own him. I’m not even going to bother to quote Lindsey Graham, you know what he said about the GOP getting destroyed and deserving it. The man was a prophet before he became Trump’s lap dog. He was thinking straight, in any event.
