When Governor Mike Parsons signed into law a bill banning Missouri Police Officers from enforcing Federal gun laws and proposing a $50,000 fine be levied against those who did, he probably didn’t think he would have to rely on their protection at The Kansas City Chief’s victory parade…

“On June 14, 2021, Parson signed a bill banning local police departments from enforcing federal gun legislation, allowing those that do to be sued and fined $50,000. He signed the bill at a gun shop and shooting range.[81] Two days later, the U.S. Department of Justice sent Parson a letter saying the law violated the Supremacy Clause, and O’Fallon, Missouri police chief Philip Dupuis resigned over the law, which he said would “decrease public safety and increase frivolous lawsuits designed to harass and penalize good hard-working law enforcement agencies”. Democrats criticized the law, calling it unconstitutional.[81] In response, Parson and Eric Schmitt contended that “Missouri is not attempting to nullify federal law”.

The City of St. Louis, St. Louis County, and Raw StoryJackson County sued the state, seeking to block the law. In February 2022, the U.S. Department of Justice also sued the state, arguing that the law unconstitutionally attempts to supersede federal law. On March 7, 2023, Federal District Court Judge Brian C. Wimes found that state law unconstitutional as a violation of the Supremacy Clause. Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey said he would challenge the decision and U.S. Representative Eric Burlison denigrated the decision as understandable because Wimes was appointed by President Barack Obama. Disappointed with Bailey’s action, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said that Missouri officials had hoped that Bailey “would approach the office like a grown-up”.

And yet he was reportedly spotted fleeing Kansas City’s Union Station during the shooting today with a cadre of state troopers and local police officers trailing in his broad wake:

Raw Story

“Someone who says they ran away from the mass shooting at the Chiefs parade on Wednesday says they saw someone else running: a GOP governor who frequently touts his support for firearms.

Earlier on Wednesday, between eight and 10 people were shot near the Chiefs Super Bowl parade, and two armed suspects were then placed under arrest, according to Kansas City police, the New York Post and the Associated Press. Chaos erupted.

In that chaos, one man reported seeing Missouri governor Mike Parson running scared.

In that chaos, one man reported seeing Missouri governor Mike Parson running scared.

“I just ran away from a mass shooting at the Chiefs parade where I saw the Missouri governor (the gun lover below) running scared for his life next to me with an army of officers protecting him,” Quaife wrote, including a photo of the governor supporting “responsible, law-abiding gun owners.”

Now, I have to stress that this is just a report and has not yet been substantiated.

But Governor Gun Groper did confirm that he was present and safe and sound with his wife and some of Missouri’s finest who were running away as regular non-Governor folks were getting shot up.

Tots and pears, Governor.

But lack of substantiation did not slow Twitter bards from their roasting of Parsons:

Run, Gubner, run!

🤣🤣🤣

I’d pay good money to see it.

Oh, he was praying alright… for himself.

💯 💯 💯

🤣🤣🤣

Yup.

My once proud state of Missouri is getting to be known as the state of cowardly politicians running from the havoc they help to create.

Help keep the site running, consider supporting.

  1. To quote an asshole who’s name has come up in the news again “Lordy, please let there be tapes.” Given the event was held outside Union Station between inside the station and the nearby area there have GOT to be security cameras. Not to mention national and more importantly local news cameras – the latter of which would likely have had one or two reporters lurking to try and get an “after speech” comment from Parsons. It’s hard to believe that somewhere there isn’t a camera that captured the asshole when the shooting started.

That means there’s any excellent chance there’s footage of him running. The question is whether his security detail will have thought to have someone seize/erase it before it could get out. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised. But if there’s footage of him running away (like most people would) or being hustled away by his security team sadly he’ll be surrounded by a phalanx of cops. Still, it would be embarrassing if played up properly.

And oh the memes of Hawley and Parsons we will see! But what we really need to see are victims, especially kids being loaded into ambulances followed by footage of the well-protected Gov. who has done everything in his power to foment this kind of tragedy surrounded by highly trained cops running AWAY.

  2. Bush in 2007 signed a law protecting gun manufacturers from being sued for the damage their product causes. What other industry ever had that deal, especially given the carnage in this country? Another Republican victory.

  3. The real pity of this whole disaster is that this governor didn’t get a bullet as well. After signing that asinine law and bitching when the feds said “hold on a minute-did you forget the supremacy clause?”, I’d pay good money to see that video.

Of course people like him and “haulin’ ass” hawley run–they are cowards. Worse, they are cowards who do not want to see the results of their moronic laws/legislation. Again, pity the shooters took out their anger, frustration, etc. on the people who have absolutely nothing to do with anything-who just wanted to welcome home their heroes instead of the ass-holes who deserve such attention. Rather than seeing children being loaded into ambulances I’d much rather see parsons being loaded into one.

One more obscenity because of republican stupidity. One more tragedy because morons are put in charge. We will not see an end to the carnage until the ‘pubes go away–whether by the ballot box or some other, effective way.
