You freaking believe this image? Yes, this is the Republican party, leadership you can depend on. This is what they want to communicate to New Yorkers on Election Day. Um…could that be a kind of batsignal that Zohran Mamdani is Muslim, without coming out and saying that he’s Muslim? Let’s just use that as a starting point in any event. (Psst, Pro Tip: There’s another way of looking at this, and that’s that Rudy Giuliani was in office that day, so what else could you expect? Given what we knew about Rudy then and what we know now.) The most succinct description of Giuliani ever written was by the Ambassador to the EU, Gordon Sundland, who said: “Everytime Rudy gets involved with anything he goes and fucks it all up.” That should go on Giuliani’s tombstone, seriously.

That is all that they’re doing here, is tipping their hand and showing their cards. And they’re not holding an impressive array of cards. Now anything can and does happen in elections, my God, if we didn’t learn that last November, we are unteachable. But so far things are looking good for Democrats. Let’s see what our conversation is tomorrow.
And it would be howlingly funny if Andrew Cuomo decided to pack up and leave town. Or better yet, leave the state. I don’t think that will happen. I think that Cuomo’s time in politics has come and gone. Mamdani’s star appears to be on the ascendent and who knows? It could be a new chapter for New York City.
And that’s what is scaring the bejesus out of Andy Ogles and the lot of them. Heaven forfend that a new page is being turned in the book and the next tired old show to leave the stage after an overextended run will be MAGA.
That’s what they all fear more than anything else. Nobody sane believes that Trump is going to: 1. Attempt to repeal the 22nd Amendment or 2. Be in any condition to run if he does repeal the Amendment. So MAGA is going to close at some point. And the GOP has no clue what is next. Find a better gimmick than Trump? Lots of luck with that.
It’s not just a few elections happening nationwide tomorrow. It’s far more like a thermometer reading of the body politic. We’ll know our political temperature a bit more tomorrow night than we do right now.

Not only was Rudy (a Republican) the mayor of New York, Bush Jr. (another Republican) was the president and ignored warnings from his own security people about an eminent attack.
I think that in 2001 the GOP had both houses of congress as well.
The 2000 election was a referendum on Billy Jeff Clinton and his antics.
