I had concerns about Governor Newsom when he started his podcast and had Steve Bannon and Charlie Kirk on it to start with. I was wondering if his mind had gone, and now he was far right instead of center left. If he had, I would have stopped supporting him. Thankfully, I was wrong. Let’s start off with something fun from Raw Story:

California Gov. Gavin Newsom took aim at Vice President JD Vance Wednesday over accusations that California’s congressional districts are gerrymandered, pointing to what he argued was Republican hypocrisy amid President Donald Trump’s efforts to reshape Texas’s maps in his party’s favor. “Try again, dumb dumb,” Newsom wrote in a social media post on X directed at Vance, alongside a map of the United States with the most gerrymandered states highlighted in green, nearly all of them controlled by Republicans.

WHAM! Aw, yea. You would think JD would know better, especially after the LA protests earlier this year. Gavin did not just stand by when Trump sent the military in where it wasn’t needed (in hopes of starting a riot so he could call martial law). Gavin knows what he’s doing much better than JD does. He has been governor for a while, and has worked hard for his state. By the way, JD grew up in Ohio, which just happens to be gerrymandered.

Earlier Wednesday, Vance had called California’s district map “outrageous,” arguing that of the state’s 52 congressional districts, only nine are represented by a Republican, constituting 17% of their congressional delegation despite “Republicans regularly” winning “40% of the vote in that state.” “How can this possibly be allowed?” Vance wrote. “Donald Trump asks for five seats and (Texas Gov.) Greg Abbott automatically bends the knee,” Newsom wrote earlier on Wednesday. “The 2026 election is being rigged. California won’t sit back and watch this happen.”

Governor Newsom is having a battle of wits with an unarmed man. And yes, I do think places are being gerrymandered for Republicans so Democrats can’t flip Congress next year. Too bad it’s getting noticed in a big, big way. People aren’t just sitting around and watching this. No, they’re slapping right back.

Newsom has suggested California may respond in kind by redrawing its own districts to the benefit of Democrats, and other Democratic lawmakers have followed suit, including Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), who pledged to “go nuclear” in response to Texas’s gerrymandering ploy.

Yuh huh. Nuclear sounds about right because this is bullsh!t. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. It’s too bad for JD. He has to mark another one in the “lost” column. Sit back and watch the fun, folks. It will only get better from here.

Friends, if you can help us with a small donation or an ad-free subscription, it would be appreciated. We are attempting to get through a year of depressed traffic and make it to 2026, where the grass will hopefully be greener due to the midterms. Thank you. Ursula

  1. Everytime an Ivy League school produces graduates like Vance, who, apparently has no moral code worth having, they damage their own reputation and mission. Whatever happened to all those lofty inscriptions over entrances that proclaim its about the pursuit of Veritas…truth. America…no wonder we are the golden calf of hypocrisy. If someone can spend years around learned professors and remain as shallow, self serving, blind, deaf, and heartless as Vance, how can we expect the working class, without the education, to honor the truth about anything? We can’t when we give these liars, like Vance, power over and over and over and over and over and over. Time for dinner. I’m having Fluffy…the neighbor’s cat. Right Vance?
